Default Who's first alternative?

Not sure if this has been asked, couldn't find it.

The race to london on the ATP website says that Gasquet and Almagro have the same number of points. If any of the 8 qualifiers withdraws and they are not passed by Simon or Querrey in the rankings if they win the whole thing, who is the alternative for the ATP finals? Richie or Nico?

E. Ties.

When two or more players have the same total number of points, ties shall be broken as follows:
1) the most total points from the Grand Slams, ATP World Tour Masters 1000 mandatory tournaments and Barclays ATP World Tour Finals main draws, and if still tied, then,
2) the fewest events played, counting all missed Grand Slams, ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments and Barclays ATP World Tour Finals they could have played (as described under A. above) as if played, and if still tied, then,
3) the highest number of points from one single tournament, then, if needed, the second highest, and so on.
(from the ATP rulebook)
so according to the 1st rule, and as it's 1835 > 1280 for richie, he would be the alternate...
let's hope simon doesn't take the alternate spot.
