I was at the bar the other night and the waitress asked me my name and proceeded to stick her tongue down my throat and GOATed me after I showed her my Urban Armor iPhone 5 case.

Everything about Apple I like a lot except the phones. The problem with the iPhone 5 is the small screen size, I mean if they made a 4.5 inch screen I would have considered buying it. I think with the 5s, Apple should come out with 2 different screen sizes, one 4 inch and a 4.8 inch screen to give consumers a choice similar to the s3 and mini version.
Using a bigger screen phone like the s3 over the ip5 has so many advantages. Watching tennis highlight videos on youtube, viewing photos, and browsing the web are way better experiences on a bigger screen. Also the YouTube app on android blows the socks off the ios app. Last edited by quest01 : 11-03-2012 at 04:48 AM. |

Give me an iPhone and I'll happily use it. Give me an S3 and I'll happily use that as well. But to say widgets/live tiles are not a useful function because one particular person does not use it is just denial to be point of stupidity. It's just a flawed argument. Want 50 widgets on your screen? Go for it. Want 10? Go for it. Want 1? Go for it. Want a load of pumpkin backgrounds on your screen? Knock yourself out. You have a choice. There's not a debate to be had here because they are a useful function which you can adjust, turn on/turn off to your heart's content. It's like baulking at having A/C in cars by saying that you can wind the window down instead. Want maps that work? Get the S3 or iPhone with TomTom (at cost), because iPhone native maps don't work particularly well. It's a non-argument to say 'Well, I don't use maps'. A replaceable battery or non-replaceable battery? It's a no brainer. It's a non-argument to say 'Well, I turn the brightness down to min, uninstall everything and limit my usage so that I never run out of battery'. There are loads of things about the iPhone that could be much better. That is a fact! As for the S3, the UI could be more user friendly and less geeky. Some of the app integration isn't as tight as it could be but that's the difference between a largely open development system and Apple's walled garden. Always room for improvement and development in both camps. Just too many people in this thread getting too attached to their metal and plastic devices and going into denial. How am i in denial when i owned both phones? Lol. That makes zero sense. If android was so great for me, why would i have switched? Have you owned both phones? Wouldnt i be more qualified to post here than someone who has not? Oh wait, my opinion is different.
Have to agree with dali here. This is getting childish. LOOK AT WHAT WE HAVE BECOME. LOOK AT IT! Lol

Its ironic that hes crying and moaning about people that take their phones so serious but at the same time is sounding his barbaric yawlps from the rooftops of the Internet about widgets changing mankind.
Go figure.

Yeah, and maps works great for me. It has not done me wrong yet. I have never adjusted the brightness on my screen or had to make any adjustments for battery besides turn off bluetooth (which i simply dont use).
Comparing widgets to having A/c in cars is really a low point in this thread..lol.

Dear Sir,
I don't poast GIFs. They are an old wretched file type and not worthy of my time. Just admit that widgets are an integral part of your life, and go about your business. Thanks, Dali

I can imagine you chuckling as you construct each post, trawling through www.dumbpicswithslogans.com trying to find a picture thinking its going to be so funny. And then when you do post, its neither funny, nor witty. And everyone ignores you. |

Apparently you missed the golden eagle thread. Basically, a TT masterpiece.

Neither.
Some people it is easy to figure out the car type and brand they drive and the phone and computer they choose. What does this mean? Some peope have a self-image they maintain. It is part of presentatiion management. Somen women will wear those f me shoes and thongs even if both are uncomfortable with the later making the wearer more prone to "v" infections. People do not make "rationally objective" decisions, most make "consistent self-servingly self-congruent" decisions.

Its true. Another reason i never understood people not acknowledging how useless flash is in this thread. The good news is that you will see more and more streaming sites using html5.

Except my Galaxy S3 is better than your little toy iPhone! |

Don't be fooled by the people telling you the Nexus 7 is as good and save the money. The Apple experience is still SO much better than the Nexus. Feel good about your mini.
I have a Nexus 7 that I use to develop work applications - since we are too cheap to buy iPhones for our workers, so they get Androids (unless you're an executive, then you get an iPhone). Have mini on order but I'm thinking why am I spending so much money on the mini when I can just use this $250 Nexus like my iPad? So I tried. On paper it's got all the right specs. The major apps are all there. Why not? Just like Apple used to say, the i<stuff> "just works". 70% of the Nexus is a struggle: * Mail is fine. No issues there. Except that you get a gMail app and a mail app. Spent a while trying to add my imap mail to the google mail app before I realized there was an other app for email. Got that now. * Web browser (chrome) is OK. But text is not much better than the mini (a little). Still need to expand it to read. What's really missing is the READER feature of Safari. Works brilliantly to give you nice readable web page on the mini. * Tried to watch a movie off my DLNA server. First go off to the Play store. Download and install the highest rated app or two. Klunky interface but finds my server. Try to play. No video player embedded in the DLNA app. Huh? Need to use a separate add on video player. Download one. Works crappy. Plays one type but not the other. Download another one. Plays both but has all kind of weird screens before and after playing. Oh yeah, neither seems to remember where I stopped off if I stop a movie mid way. No 30 second forward or skip buttons. Download a few more video players. Ugh. Finally have one that sees to work. Whoops, accidentally got into screen shot mode on this player. Takes a picture. Pops up again. Hit cancel, takes another picture. Stuck in loop. Reboot. Now have about 10 screenshots in some folder somewhere. Have to go download a file app to find the pictures and delete them. Now I'm using the tablet in portrait. Every time I play a video it spins over to landscape mode. Have to turn tablet. Stop playing. Goes back to portrait, turn back. No way to stop it from turning sideways. Figure, let's just use the ABC app and watch it there. Nothing in the play store from ABC networks. Lots of kid games and apps from local affiliates. Give up on that. I could go on... Now I know some of this is just finding the good apps. I also know that your common apps like Groupon, maps, Angry birds are going to be OK. But it's still the wild west out there on a Nexus. ***It's designed by engineers and that's exactly how it behaves.**** It's gotten better over the years. Android 4.x is usable. But it still is a hassle. Back to the iPad with great relief. Blood pressure down. Extra $100, not feeling so bad about that...

Dali,
When I'm up in NYC in a few weeks, we have to bump our iPhone 5s. It will be epic. |
