In term of tennis, the Beatles are like pushers who win a lot. People don’t like them just because…

Summed up: While Brian Wilson is a lunatic genius (no argument here), John "Tomorrow Never Knows" Lennon and McCartney (when they weren't writing and giving away #1 hit tunes for others to record, e.g. Peter & Gordon) were mere hacks who paled in comparison. Geo. Harrison couldn't play slide guitar worth a lick let alone pen a tune...and as for Ringo (the "dumb" Beatle) Starr, well, when it comes to recording hit songs, I guess 'it don't come easy' either. Speaking of Ringo, some trivia: name of The Rolling Stones' 2nd released single?

I just wanted to add that the Beatles are overrated hacks.

Didn't this hack just get kicked out of his own band?
Brian Wilson is a David Lee Roth wannabe....... Quote:
Most number-one hits 1. George Strait 59 2. Madonna 52 3. Conway Twitty 49 4. Michael Jackson 43 5. Elvis Presley 41 6. Ronnie Milsap 40 7. Charley Pride 39 8. Merle Haggard 38 9. Dolly Parton 37 10. Beatles/Reba McEntire 36 by the way, most (but not all) of these numbers are made up

The #1 hit reference in my post was presented in a "give it away" sense and didn't also mean to include 'niche' (C&W) charts.
That said, Madonna??... Granted, Lennon's vocals on "Day in the Life" can't hold a candle to Madonna's incandescent whine on "You Must Be My Lucky Star" but, er, Madonna?.....is that really you r2473?....Madonna?...you goin' with that? ![]() You must be my lucky star, because you shine on me wherever you are ^^^ breath taking.....speaking of wordsmithing and, ... using the same # of #1's list of yours from above: Madonna vs. Bob Dylan

Madonna is a genius.
Dylan might rank as high as a group like Abba. Quote:

We heard about the sell-out. You gotta get an album out. You owe it to the people. We're so happy we can hardly count. Everybody else is just green, Have you seen the chart? It's a hell of a start, It could be made into a monster If we all pull together as a team. And did we tell you the name of the game, boy? We call it Riding the Gravy Train. I'm not sure if you can tell Dedans, but I'm agreeing with you. Not all "#1's" are created equal and most of the best music never even sniffs the billboard or any other popular chart for that matter

that's a joke. Murmur was one of the most influential albums of the eighties, and a poignant masterpiece, not to mention Document, probably even better.

Nice to see all the Beatletards pile up here all of a sudden. Beatles sold their disks because of no competition, while Madonna had to contend with some of the all-time greats like CCCatch, Michael Jackson, and Bad Boys Blue, in their respective primes.
