what are x out tennis balls, did they not pass QC are they playable or only good for practice ?

Absolutely playable! The XXX means that they didn't pass QC as in the labeling was off center or something cosmetic.

Usually those balls are smaller in size, thinner felt, more uneven gluing. They play pretty much the same to me, but they don't last as long. Penn coach, Penn XXX, etc. Aren't all that bad.

Sure you mean X out and not balls that are stamped with a large X - Tretorn Micro X?
