It's the Davis Cup final this weekend. What are your thoughts and predictions?. I think that the Czechs can win as it is at home for them.

Spain will win it again. They previously won the title in 2000, 2004, 2008, 2009 and 2011, so this would be their sixth Davis Cup triumph.

I'd like to see the Czech Republic come through with the win. Anyone know who's playing for Spain?

But without Nadal, won't Spain be faltering against the likes of Berdych?

It all might come down to the doubles match. I'm thinking Berydhc wins both of his singles matches, Stepanek loses his.

Going with Spain 3-2, but it'll be closer without Nadal I think.

I hope so, but I just think Ferrer is playing too well at the moment and Almagro has improved this year.

Hopefully the Czech Republic win their first Davis Cup title as an independent nation, and complete the ITF Davis Cup/Fed Cup/Hopman Cup hat-trick.
The last time a nation won both the Davis and Fed Cups in the same year was the USA in 1990. However I wouldn't begrudge Spain a title as then hopefully Ferrer would get the credit he deserves in his home country. In the past few years Nadal has returned for Spain's Davis Cup finals having missed some of the their earlier ties during the year, and taken virtually all of the plaudits and credit from the Spanish public/media, who have completely ignored the efforts of the other hard-working guys in the team (especially Ferrer). Plus Spain probably would have won the 2009 and 2011 finals without Nadal anyway. |
