I think Cavani will probably cost the same as Falcao. I heard about the Arsenal link too and I had to laugh, they think they can get him for £30 Million

The price was £35 Million in the summer, he signed a new contract with a bigger buyout clause since then. Not sure why Arsenal think they can get him for so cheap.

Frustrating though, and as the saying goes, the unpopular AVB leaves himself as a hostage to fortune when we lose to the likes of Wigan at home (losses to City and Chelsea are different). I'd also point out that new signings, Siggi and Dempsey, haven't wowed the fans at all (I'm with them on that), and players like Gallas, Walker and Huddlestone, to varying degrees, have also put in some p*** poor showings.

I had a jokey dig a few posts back about why Wenger didn't go in for Berbatov in the summer as they could so do with a player of his talents. Well, I could easily say the same of course re AVB and Spurs.
Oh come the hell off it Ross, Dempsey scored the winner at United away. When was the last time Spurs won at Old Trafford before that?

Arsenal think they can get Cavani for 30 million? How about we give Napoli Torres, Mikel and 5 million for Cavani? Seems like a fair trade, Torres is probably worth 20-25 million, Mikel isn't worth anything on his own, and 5 million is the sweetner.

Well that would leave us possibly even worse off Ramires would be the only midfielder in the squad, and Cavani the only out and out striker. He'd certainly be better than Torres, and it might be easier than trying to offload him through selling, but yeah, I don't think it would be good for either side.

He did do that, and that was great. From what I've seen though, and from what I know the general feeling from the fans is, that (some would say flukey) victory aside, he hasn't really impressed at all. Moreover, the view is the top quality Van DerVaart and Modric have not been adequately replaced. All that said, him, AVB, etc do need more time, absolutely.

Dempsey is a slightly better version of Kevin Nolan, contributes little to overall play but good at poaching goals.

Both he and Sigurdsson would benefit from Ade playing rather than Defoe because Ade actually gets other players involved unlike Defoe who's always looking to shoot first.

So talks have already started, personal terms agreed and the player says he wants the move.

It was only last week they were saying Chelsea were going to look elsewhere, strange one!

Dempsey doesn't poach, or atleast when he plays for the U.S, he sits behind the strikers and creates space for our wingers. And when all else fails, he shoots (as you guys would know ).

No doubt that VdV was and is better than Dempsey. He's also younger; and came from Real Madrid. Dempsey came from Fulham. He's more creative, faster, much more technically proficient, and has a better shot. Regarding Modric, he hasn't impressed much at Madrid, but he too is better than Dempsey. If you have a problem with the fact that your club signed Dempsey over someone else, it's not his fault. Blame it on the manager and his tactics or the club's president.

Will we send Torres the other way as a "Thank you" Christmas gift?

Or perhaps with a "DO NOT RETURN TO SENDER" sign when we send the cash over to them for Falcao?

Is something getting a bit lost in translation here?

Yes, it is of course down to Levy and AVB. I don't have a major issue with Dempsey. I just think it's fair to say Dempsey hasn't excelled yet - like the vast majority.

Spurs are desperately crying out for a playmaker of course. Having got shot of Modric, the notoriously 'tight' Levy needed to move heaven and earth to get one in the summer, but obviously, that never happened.

Shocking as that statement was, I trust you've done the British thing and gathered your senses and calmed down after the imbibing a strong cuppa.

On a serious note, how are you feeling about Allardyce and what he's doing with the hammers? Seems like he's doing well, no? A West Ham fan has told me he's slowly but surely become a convert.

Fena,

Who - surely at a massive loss for the blues - are the contenders to buy Torres? Which teams would have him? Where would he want to go?

It's a tough one! The two obvious ones would be Juventus (who are always linked with strikers, and have been with Torres in the past, even last summer). Going back to Atletico is an option, as it would probably be the only club he would settle for smaller wages at.

I think Italy in general would make sense, it would complete the set of Spain, England and Italy for him.

AC Milan have been known to go for big name players who have had issues, Robinho and Ronaldinho for instance. Maybe Russia if he fancies getting £300,000 a week, no doubt Anzhi would probably be interested.

I think there are options out there for him. I wonder if someone as big as Falcao comes in, would Torres leave in January. It would be interesting to see how he handles the new signing and competition, he didn't like Drogba being the main man so I can't imagine he would be happy having a younger, clearly better man take his place.

What a player Zlatan Ibrahimovic is. That 4th goal was truly special. You see a performance like that and realize that the ludicrously over-hyped Rooney isn't fit to tie up his hairband. Such a class performance tonight.

I didn't watch it. I thought it would be two hours of ITV worshipping Gerrard, but that's usually what happens anyway

I look forward to seeing Zlatan's goals though.

holy sh!t. that's amazing.

wonder why he never made the move to England, he could have been great for a club like United.

Should of given it to Luiz! There's something about carefree players and penalties, Balotelli being another.
