In which case, I presume you are better than the 11th in the world at what you do.
If people enjoy a bit of trash talk, fine. But Berdych does leave himself open to criticism if he is going to have a go at another player like that. If he can dish it out without provocation, he doesn't need defending when some bounces back on him. |

Thomas is quite right in his assesment of the qualities and problems of Almagros game and achievements. While Berdych isnt a GS winner yet but he has the game to beat top 5 players at the GS tournies and he still is improving while Almagro isnt.

I agree...Better than the usual press statements of "gotta go out and play my game, give 110%, etc etc".

Lol. Not classy, but entertaining. I would expect nothing less from Birdman.

I've met Almagro before and he isn't very friendly, but when you start spouting a bunch of crap like Berdych you make yourself the bad guy.

Hahaha, I like Berdych. Nice guy. Stop whining people. Murray is a much worse person and way more two-faced than Berdych who, refreshingly, speaks his mind.

Berdych
![]() As if he's such a great player. No way to talk about someone anyway IMO. What he said about the doubles team is just some friendly trash talk though. Quote:

Good for Berdych. DC needs this since it's kind of a dull event. Tennis needs more trash talk.

Very immature from Berdych, its probably the reason he hasn't taken more advantage of his massive talent (dude should be a multiple slam winner IMO, he is easily as talented as Djokovic and Murray). At least it makes the DC Final more interesting.

A bit rude, but enjoyable to say the least. Everybody else is putting on a public mask of class but this guy's pure entertainment at this point.

Trashing talking and controversy is good. Apart from diehard tennis fans (and there aren't very many of us all), who cares about the Davis Cup or a tennis event that isn't a slam. At least this spices things up a bit.
It's like the WTA chief executive at the time admitted that he loved it when Hingis would trash talk other players in her press conferences at her peak, because that attracted interest from more casual fans. Similarly Agassi catching the ball against Jaite during USA's Davis Cup tie in Buenos Aires in 1988 was gold dust for sports journalists and tennis fans as it gave them something interesting to write/talk about. |

Berdych is obviously missing that "something" that distinguishes the great players from the rest himself. However, he isn't going to rag on someone who he thinks is in the same boat with him. He is at best deluded about their difference in talent. |

Don't understand these forums...one day everyone is complaining about lack of personalities in the game (read - more animosity). Then the minute a player makes even the slightest controversial remark, everbody is on his case.
Is Alamgro that browbeaten that he needs your sympathy? Let them settle it on the court. |

Who really cares about either Berdych or Almagro. Neither has a particularly charming personality.

I am loving it. As it should be, especially in a DC-meeting. Electric and intensive.
