@coolblue123,

Yes, the cosmetic is the same on both of the 98's. It just has the different string patterns written on each of the frame in silver.

thanks. looks like it is in my wheelhouse. would the 99 have the same swingweight? or maybe a big higher, because of the denser stringbed (means higher weight, means higher swingweight)?

I know the swingweights for both string patterns are very close, but I still feel like the 16x19 is more maneuverable and whippy.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

Jason, I need some help/advice....I recently demoed the Juice 100 and really liked it. It was so user friendly and versatile. I also know the new 16x19 Blade is coming soon. Could you possible compare the J100 with the 16x19 Blade, since you have tried both? Would the Juice be a better fit for me?
I usually like what you like, so your opinion is valuable to me. Is the Blade more of a "players stick"? I am currently using the Extreme 2.0 Mp, but am struggling to win with it.

Quick question for TW Staff:

What is the balance of the 16x19 Blade?

Thanks

Jason: Is there really a big power difference - spec has the 18x20 at low power, while the 16x19 is listed as medium. Also, is the power noticeably higher on the 16x19 than the current BLX Blade? Thank you!

I guarantee there is no power difference besides the difference you will get when you go to an open pattern. From what I am seeing, the Blade is the exact same as last one except they have 2 patterns. The Wilson QC is all over the place and that is why the numbers are a little off from each other. So Jason had one that whipped through the air faster, but I bet we could easily find him an open pattern stick with worse QC that is sluggish.

I'm sure the TW mob will review both racquets in due course, but I'm curious as to how dense (or open) the drill pattern is on the 16x19.

Wilson have created another intriguing 6.1 18x20 / 16x18 type conundrum again....

Ahh yes, the Juice 100. That was also a racquet I loved. The Juice 100 is definitely more maneuverable than the new Blade 16x19. The downside for me, on the Juice 100 was the stiffness. With my arm issues, I just couldn't consistently hit with it.

I would say the Juice 100 is also more powerful. I feel like spin production is about the same. I like the Juice 100 over the Blade 16x19 for serves but I like the Blade over the Juice 100 for stability. I would say that the Blade is "more of a players stick" because it's slightly less powerful and more demanding to swing.

thanks J. I agree with what you said. I don't have any issues with stiff racquets anymore. I added 4 g's at 3/9 to my Juice demo and it was close to perfect. I didn't notice any stability issues either. So for now, it's time to Juice! I will demo the Blade when it comes out and I hope I don't like it!

I wouldn't base too much on a demo though. With Wilson poor QC, you could get a lighter or heavier one from what is stated in the specs. It would just be a good reference.

How does the stability, swing weight and plow through compare on the 16x19 version to the current (18x20) version? thank you!

It seems the power and swingweight of the new 2013 blade versus older BLX, when you consider mfg variances, could be about the same. Jason can you comment? The open pattern blade seems perfect, sans instability..

They are very very close. But if I had to pick one for stability and plow through, I'd go with the current 18x20.

Yes, I'd say that the new versions of the Blade are exactly that, newer versions of the Blades. There aren't any revolutionary changes, no big changes to the specs, but the biggest different is in the feel. Much crisper response, greater feedback. Of the 2 string patterns, the open one is right up my alley. It just adds a tad more pop and ball pocketing.
