2013 French Open

I am planning to go to the French Open next year, but have never attended a large scale tournament like this before.
I think we were planning on getting grounds passes for several days, and then getting stadium tickets for a day just so we can get the satisfaction of saying we watched some of the big names play.
We don't really have the trip planned out yet, but we will be in France for a long enough duration that we could go to the tournament at really anytime that is best for watching.
I am wondering what are the best days to get grounds passes at a major? Is getting grounds passes for something around the day 1 and 2 range and then getting stadium tickets on day 3 or 4 the best option?
Or is it better to get grounds passes later on during week 1?
I would rather be watching singles, and not doubles and from what I have noticed by the end of week 1 it seems like the singles matches are starting to move towards the stadiums as opposed to the outside courts. Am I correct?
I would also like to be watching matches with possibly some players who I am able to recognize, maybe see some top 20 or 10 players play while with grounds passes.
Does anybody have any experience going to the French Open and what would you recommend for the best tennis watching experience?

Remember each stadium has to have its own tkts - so you will have to decide well in advance which tkts to buy. All the top players and most of all the French players will play on the top 3 courts as much as possible - But the grounds pass does get you to enough courts like the Bullring where you will find plenty of good matches in the first week. If I were you I would take a grounds pass for the first few days and try to get stadium seats for round 2 that starts usually on the first Thursday.

If you go to the 2012 RG site and look at the daily schedule you can get a great idea on which matches get posted to which courts.

Gavna-I am wondering if you know a decent way to get tickets without going bankrupt. I saw that you are an FFT member, therefore have priority to buy. Is there a way you could purchase tickets for me? Thanks!
