Default Sharapova: "I would love to act in a Hollywood movie"

http://www.yardbarker.com/tennis/art...movie/12255574

Smart move?

Bad move?

Will anyone not caring about tennis have any interest in seeing her in a film?

Is she better off making guest appearances on TV shows, where the time is limited, and protect her acting from too much scrutiny?

She either be
1) a damn good actress
2) completely naked throughout

for me to be remotely interested.

I doubt she will go nude. If she tried it, there's a certain market segment she will no longer appeal to, and she wants as many venues for her personal brand as possible. Further, after the initial thrill is over, the public would take on a "yeah, but what have you done lately" attitude, because she's played that fantasy card, and will have no more surprises for audiences.

Regarding her abilities as an actress...few sports pros were ever that good at the craft, but I could see her making comedic cameos on sitcoms, where its more about quick one-liners, than long pages of dialogue.

I can picture her in the "straight to DVD" movies set in the Amazon rainforest which involves chasing a prehistoric crocodile in skimpy clothing.

Sharapova doesnt necessarily need to be on camera to a successful movie star. They could merely use her hideous screams and screeching in horror movies or even National Geographic Documentaries on the prehistoric mating calls of the pterodactyl.

sharapova is nice looking among tennis players but she's below average among the Hollywood stars. So, if you go to a movie because you want to see a beautiful movie star, there are other movies (with real Hollywood stars) that you can go to see.

Is she competing with Brooklyn Decker?

If she does do some movies, I'm sure she'll end up in movies that are either "Made for TV" or straight to DVD.

Stick with tennis darling, that's what you're good at.

You are right on the money there and it doesn't take much to look better than the average female tennis player, both in terms of looks and physique although Sharapova's shoulders are disgustingly wide for a female.

Her screaming is easily transferable to American porno films.

She would never be good for a big role in a Hollywood movie.

From watching Conan the Barbarian who would have thought Arnold would have a big film career?

Yes, she's not anywhere near the level of the cream of Hollywood's actress crop, and there's not enough interest in her to make any appearance turn into box office gold (the concern from the producers' side).

She's already in the candy business--among other interests, and there's no risk of being criticized for attention seeking--which is what I believe will happen if she attempts acting.

There was a certain expectation of him as a world-famous body builder (and that was an idea which gained new ground after Ferrigno already starred in The Incredible Hulk tv series), so if you look at the way he was used early on, he had to be in parts where he was seen as a threat or larger than life based on his appearance (Conan, the original Terminator, Commando, etc.). That said, as an actress, what is marketable about Sharapova? What are the expectations of her aside from the one (nudity) I think she will not do?

This is true. Plus the film documentary Pumping Iron, which follows Arnie in the Mr Olympia 1976 build up was quite widely acclaimed, since it came at the time when Bodybuilding was in its Golden Age, and Arnie was it's greatest ambassador. Arine had also stared in Hercules in New York back in the very early 70s, so they were experimenting with these larger than life bodies very early on.

Right guy, right place, right time = Major success.

She also has a problem of finding an actor who is taller than her. Could you imagine Tom Cruise or someone of his height with her?? Unless it is a movie like "Queen of Tennis Amazons".

Interviews are impossible to interpret without a full transcript. We don't know if she was asked "what would you like to do when your career is over?" or "would you ever want to act in a movie?" The press likes to manufacture stories on slow days. If she's as wooden as she seems to be, and as Vijay Armitraj was in the Bond film, maybe she could play the totem pole in "Fargo 2."
