I get about 36 hours of play out of the Gosen Micro before I start feeling a change. I can usually go another 10 or 12 before I feel the need to change it out.

The Zo Verve seems to last a lot longer.

I am actually impressed that the thin Gosen (18g) string doesn't seem to break as often as the 17g I was using. I am guessing that the lower tension is a factor. When I was up in the 60's and 70's, I tended to break at least one string per month. I am playing a lot more now, and rarely break a string.

Chris already addressed this question earlier in this thread. If I remember right, his feeling is that he would really prefer low tensions, but because of his job at Tennis Warehouse, he frequently has to test frames that are strung at "normal" tensions, so he decided not to play exclusively with low tensions.

But I could be wrong. Bottom line is that Chris started this thread because he found some very attractive characteristics of poly at low tensions. Whether or not he decided to stick with the low tensions is inconsequential. For me, low tensions are wonderful. I play with Polystar Energy and I restring (myself) every few matches. My game play now is higher than it's ever been, mostly due to the string and frame setup. My strokes haven't really changed in years, but my game has improved overall because of my equipment. No doubt about it.

Anyway, it doesn't matter whether or not Chris stayed with low tensions. Other people have. I have. It's terrific.

I played my league last night with my 30# Biomimetic 100.

It felt great and I hit some wonderful shots. I lost, however, 6-3-,6-3.

There was not nearly as much string movement as I noticed earlier, and my opponent hit some pretty hard shots. I kind of did myself in by serving too many double faults.

I am really liking the extremely low tension. Can't wait for my Code Red to get here.

yea that's what i remembered.. something about testing racquets..
anyway, i don't really care who uses it.
if it really works and also extend the poly life for a few hours, it's a no brainer.
can't wait to try it out. hope it'll work for me though, as i don't like the general poly 'feel' so much.

Careful. If you go too low, you may hit the resonance frequency of the frame and you'll start vibrating like a cartoon character.

Default ACME announces new tennis gear ...

Today, ACME announced a new barrage of tennis gear and clothing that should be on the market by the first of the year.

The flagship of their racquet line will be the Wascally Wacquet. A medium powered 95" beauty that will be predominantly grey with orange highlights.
The Wascally will additionally come in three other sizes, 98", 102", and the 108" model for older player.

In addition, they announced a clothing line based on their number one customer, Wile E Coyote. They will be offering polos and crews in mostly brown, with areas of tan and white. Much like the famous LaCoste emblem, these smart looking outfits will have a likeness of Mr. Coyote on the left breast area. The will also sport a SUPER GENIUS patch on the right sleeve.

As mentioned above, various grades of string will be offered as well. The roadrunner red co-poly (tentatively called "Meep-Meep"), and the Tasmanian Devil textured string just called "Spinner". There is also a natural gut string that is reportedly made of duck (when in season). All racquets are designed to be strung at between 30 and 35 pounds.

Not stopping there, ACME will also introduce a highly technical ball machine that can shoot balls at over 100 mph, and double as a rocket for chasing down your opponent after the match.

For the kids, two lines will be produced ... the "Tweety" for 21" and 23" racquets, and the "Chicken Hawk" for 25" racquets.

As for shoes, ACME has leaked rumors of rocket powered sneakers to help slower players move around the court. These may be a little late coming to market, due to "faulty shut off switches". Insider reports claim that Mr. Coyote was seriously injured when his rocket shoes failed to shut down, and he was propelled through 6 fences and the side of the clubhouse.

Preliminary sketches of the racquets show the possibility of add-ons such as a laser sight, and tuners.

ACME spokesman Elmer Fudd issued a statement earlier today stating that he thought "The new ACME tennis line will change the game in a vewy wadical way. We can't wait to see how Woger Fedewew and Wafa like our innowations."

ACME CEO Porky T. Pig closed the press conference with his now famous "Ba-da, ba-da,ba-dat's all folks!"

Mr. Fudd added "Be vewy, vewy quiet .... I'm hunting winners."

The kids racquets will also be available in Babs and Buster PJs.
Piddie vibration dampeners... when you're out of stock, you can say " Uh-oh! Wan out of Piddies!"

We'd better stop before the anvil drops on us.

Just getting a little silly.
Beware of tension that matches the resonant frequency of the frame, you will get some ugly vibration.

There was a very early post on this thread about that.

Chris Edwards, in the early blog psts, asked TW Professor about it. I've encountered it around 25 pounds.
