The other alternative is doing a 50/50 on the Prince rackets.

And yet another alternative is to use the S-hook method.

I recall someone suggested using an S-Hook, but I've never seen the application. Now that I've actually seen how it is used, it makes sense now. The thought of metal touching the frame was going to damage the paint. I have a couple of S-hooks for hanging the calibrator on my Gamma tray.

I'll stick to the boomerang and table brake for now.

Heat shrink takes care of the metal contact on the paint. I say to each their own, but it's my method of choice nowadays. With my son, two of my students, and my wife having ported sticks, I get to do my fair share of 'em. As a result I've gotten to be pretty smooth with the procedure, and I use two s-hooks; one for each side, so there's no switching like in the video.

Anyway, this was meant to give the op another option besides the boomerang or the 50/50. I not suggesting it's superior to either, it's just...different, but very effective.

Rofl.

I'm going to have to try this. Stringing my rebels with a dinky little x-2 is a pain.

Tried the brake but it was too much a hassle; settled on the sharpie method. Not really a big deal but honestly I'd have just gotten a different racket if I'd foreseen the added step. (And finding out the hard way that it make a BIG difference in short side when doing one piece stringing.)

It must depend on machine you use, as I use the brake routinely on O port racquets, and it is no big deal.I pull a knob out and table is locked solid, push it in and its free again.Takes a fraction of a second.

As to the short side, if you mix it up and have the long side on the short side, then just weave the top cross with the short side and you are resynchronized, as that even makes it so the top and bottom cross strings as the tie off strings.

Unfortunately these tools are not made well in that you lose a good amount of tension since the cross string is never horizon when pulled with these tools in place. I am not sure why Prince did not test these tools better. Irvin do you feel the same way about these tools? In other words, that you lose a good amount of tension when using them? The prince exo3 Silve 118 seems to be the worst in tension loss.

The old Gamma X-ST brake is not strong enough to hold the turntable in place. Supposedly the new design can do it though.

There are three points of friction when pulling tension using a boomerang (two points on the boomerang and one on the frame) and each point will reduce tension. Then there is the issue of using the boomerang that fits in the hole and does not pop out. I don't like using the boomerangs and would prefer my string method or I think a spring loaded clothespin would work great. it should not be hard to fabricate a tool either shaped like a U to drop over the frame.
