Well... Let's just say that those users have something in common.

Welcome.

Yes correct. Where you from? The Guy with the elegant strokes is planning to be there, so if hè follows through it should be great.

Just a quickie to say hello. I've been a voracious reader of the TTW boards for about 18 months, but this is my first post.

Have been a fan of tennis for about six years now, but the last 18 months is when I've really started intensely following the ATP tour week to week. I think this transition was enabled, in large part, by access to the history, insight and range of opinions shared by the TTW community at large. So my first act as a poster ought to be one of gratitude and acknowledgement to everyone.

I've come to know and respect a number of you in the last year and a half. This is the internet guys, and you all knew that when you started posting. So it should only sound moderately creepy if I say in some cases I even think of you as friends: Batz, McEnroeisanartist, Mustard, Towser come to mind, in no particular order.

Anyway I live in the UK, am studying for a PhD in Economics. My allegiance is to the guy with the elegant strokes. (As a greater man than I once said in a greater thread than I will ever create.) My first sporting passion in life was test cricket, but at various times I have also closely followed baseball and American football.

So yeah, that's that. See you guys around.
Like your post especially the part in bold. Welcome aboard the Federer Warehouse. Love Fed, hate on Nads and you'll have a lot of friends here, trollolol

Soon it turns out that everyone studied the same specialization here. I'm doing a masters in economics myself, lolz.

Economics is the most popular college major in the US right now.

Thanks man. As I keep saying, I am new here and therefore a bit tentative. I am sure it's just a matter of time before I'll be yet another raging, bile-spewing ****.

Thats a huge compliment man. Thanks a lot!

Although I would argue all the big players have fans on these boards who are dripping with class. Not all their fans of course. But some. Thanks anyway.

Thanks very much. Yeah they're all super Nadal fans aren't they?!

I recall there is a user on these boards who is a real legend at sniffing out multiple accounts. On the other hand I am but a humble beginner, so if someone claims not be a multiple account user, I shall take it at face value, until such time as I know better!

Originally from Pakistan; lived almost a decade in the US; living in Europe for the last 3 years.

Saw His Elegance for the first time at the WTF final, from up close. Will try and watch as much of him as I can while he's still playing. Rotterdam is the next time he plays anywhere close to me. So if it works out with classes etc, I may try and make it out.

Test cricket is what I grew up watching; it is a unique, complex and utterly absorbing sport - if you know what to look for.

If you don't, it can be mindless tedium for days on end, with no guarantee of a result. I like to think that it is a test of character for the audience as well as for the players!

Thanks man! Nice one!

Well I can do the first in spades. Doubt I'll be doing too much hating on Nads. He may not be my favourite player but I have tremendous respect for his hard work, dedication and achievements. For any pro player really; these guys give their lives for the sport; I feel uncomfortable sitting on my arse pronouncing judgement on people who have all likely achieved more than I ever will.

That's just my two bits. Clearly most internet poasters disagree. But hey, I'm only here to make friends with like minded people!

Indeed! Back in college felt like half of the seniors were Economics majors....
