Yes, that seems to work well to handle the increased weight, but it doesn't solve the problem of the stressed wrist on the loop of the takeback, leading to the foreward stroke. If I were stronger, it wouldn't be a problem. I'm already 63, prolly not going to work out and get stronger.
And mostly, in doubles, quickness trumps weight of the ball. A quicker response gives more ad lib options, more effective reflex volleys, and more time to change the returns of serve directions when a poacher actually goes.
I"m still going to play with the MicroGel OS, but more when I'm fresh, not after a couple of slow sets, followed by fast hard hitting 4-4.5 level doubles.
