With all the hype surrounding 4G, I just didn't find it that great string in a full setup. I haven't had a chance to try 4G in a hybrid perhaps, in the spring, I will post my review. For tension maintenance and control, I prefer Ltec 4S and for power, I go with Pro Evolution.

4G is a lot better as a hybrid. I use it in the mains and cross with OGSM, and it plays incredibly well.

Tourna Big Hitter Black 7 also!!! I've been using it for a good while now and LOVE it!! Both and a string and a hybrid.

Also... I bought into all the hype of tour bite and to be honest I never want to play with it again. NEVER.

Big Hitter Black and Cyclone is SO much better!!!

For a great hybrid combo try BHB17 and T.Multifeel in the cross. Gosh it awesome!!

Luxilon 4G isn't that great, the fact it retains it's tension better than other Luxilon strings doesn't mean much, it's more comfortable than other Luxilon, but also the spin help is worthless, it isn't anything special to me, I'd take Luxilon Original and Fluoro over 4G, I still take the Yonex Poly Tour Spin over all of these Luxilon strings, I would also take Yonex Poly Tour HS over any Luxilon.

Soon I'll be moving to multi or gut/poly if it gets really cold - below 50F with winds I can't use full poly.

4G is not for everyone. I find it better if you generate your own spin and want control. It still actually does well for spin, but are there better options for that category? - yes.

Example, the Cylcone is a very nice string with good spin, but it is rather springy to me, and it dies a lot faster.

So it is just personal preference, many people will prefer the springiness of the cyclone, but for me, I love the very high control level of the 4g.

I hate spending $17 a string set..hate it. So trust me, I want to find something better that is cheaper.

I hear you, money isn't the issue for me, it's what feels right for you, others and I, and you can agree with that, but many rule out Luxilon because of its price, I however tried and still like many of them, but I think Poly Tour Spin is better, just me, if the tour spin string cost 15bucks, 17 I'd still pay for it, it just does evrything great from the first ball to the last day, it works on my racquets but it may not work with combinations of strings and others racquets, because it is also stiff and crisp.

You pay 17 dollars but get more life out of the stringbed as it does not loose tension that fast. So, proportionately, you are not paying more and you are getting a superior feeling string.

I, myself, will try it full bed this week and later try it hybrid with Babolat Nvy in the future.

Boricua, yes if I only need 80 feet a month than it is not that bad if I cross with with OGSM.

Trista, I never tried the Tour Spin, just the regular PTP. from what I read it is around an 8-10 hour string or so right? The yonex strings are an excellent value.

Id love to see others try polybreak as well. That is one heck of a string, but a little too powerful in the Blade. The Blade is all about control for me.

PP,

the time frame varies to each individual based on how they play, to me it last 2 weeks- around 15 hours- broken or not I will use the other racquet. The first 8 hours they're sublime, bear in mind it needs a break in period.

It is low powered, the Poly Tour HS is on the same power range. Yonex strings are dirt cheap for what they are. I have not used the Poly Tour Pro though, I don't need any power, my racquets are pretty powerful.

Next year I will test some new strings, I'm looking forward for the new Tecnifibre, new RPM DUal and I will test some of the Gosen polys as well. I don't like to be messing around with many strings though, It takes sometime to figure out a good tension...

Trista, 2 weeks is excellent. I get close to that out of my 4g. There is movement before then but the string continues to play great for a while after. I think the movement comes due to it being a hybrid.

I am going to try Tour Bite mains one more time to try and beat the 4g. But for how I hit, the 4g is the string of the year for me.

The reason I believe it did not get the raves on this forum is because so many here look for extra spin and softness from a poly. That is not what 4g is about. It is definitely for a player who makes their own spin and likes to hit through the ball more.
It also does not trampoline like all the soft polys do.

But since you say that the PTS is stiff and crisp - that is very appealing to me so I may give that a run sometime.

I am weird though - I prefer a boardy feel. I think OGSM and Wilson Stamina are amazing crosses in a hybrid. So I may be more unique in my string preferences compared to others.
