Default Is Fed the first non american GOAT?

Well most will agree here that fed is the GOAT. Is he the first non american GOAT of tennis (at least since the 1920s or so when tennis started to get more international)? Before him any GOAT I seem to remember was american.

Laver was GOAT before Federer in my opinion, of course many people will shortly jump on you for assuming that he isn't the GOAT now. They'll post in 3... 2... 1...

lendl was GOAT? I'm not sure about borg too. Laver might be correct. although tilden might not have been far behind.

dominikk1985,

I'm not sure if most posters here agree that Federer is the GOAT.

In my opinion Laver, Rosewall and Borg are the non-American GOAT contenders beside Federer.

Laver was considered the GOAT for several decades and is still considered by many people.

Laver was a GOAT contender before Federer was even born.

On the plus side, Colt45 has been the GOAT non-French champagne, by sales volume, since the history of grapes and grains.

Laver, Borg, Roseswall and Emerson are just 4 names who come to mind as non Americans with some claim to the GOAT title over the years.

Emerson shouldn't be a goat candidate.

If you define Australia as an American Territory, you have a prayer at not being ridiculed for the OP.

boredone, Emerson was never a GOAT contender. He is just a third tier player

False premise. Bad memory.

There are some players that are so overwhelmingly better than some others in some sports that the statement by dominikk1985 can be applied. But if you examine Federer's record you cannot say that about him over other great tennis players of recent years and the past.

In other words I agree with you hoodjem.
