Murray would need to move his game up plenty,,Nole wont be just sitting around doing nothing, he's on a mission to win as many slams as he can..

I disagree of course but you're entitled to your opinion.

He's quite shy off court but he can be quite funny and has a very dry sense of humour. He's no extrovert like Djokovic, that's true.

I don't understand this at all! Have you even watched him lately? Precisely how he does he 'constantly act like an idiot on court'??

I wouldn't say it's a good chance, but he has a chance to become #1 next year, so does Donald Young.

I still get frustrated by this reasoning..

You realise he's beaten him twice in the semis? which is worse luck because you have to play him earlier on and thus maybe lose earlier on. He's also played him 3 times at the AO in total compared to Murray playing him once. Whether it's a final or a semi or a 4th round, it makes no difference.

Djokovic at the AO

Djokovic vs Federer 2-1
Djokovic vs Nadal 1-0
Djokovic vs Murray 2-0

Total 5-1

Murray at the AO

Murray vs Federer 0-1
Murray vs Nadal 1-1
Murray vs Djokovic 0-2

Total 1-4

Not saying Murray doesn't have a chance, but Djokovic is a big favourite if he plays like he did at the WTF. And Djokovic not playing Federer in an AO final means nothing because it isn't his fault he had to meet him in the semis all the time - you are aware that nearly every single HC slam Djokovic and federer have been in the same half unless seeding made it impossible?

Interesting. Are you saying Young's chances are at least as good as Murray's?

I agree, and I see your point.

sorry I don't mean to sound like a d-bag. I basically agree that Murray could win the AO, he came close to beating Djokovic this year and he beat hi at the US Open so Djokovic is the favourite but he will still have to play very well to beat Murray

Murray obviously has a better chance than DY, I just don't see Murray getting past the big 2 or 3 if Nadal comes back fully, but if not I don't see him becoming #1 over Fed and Djoker next year, but he has a chance, just as DY does.

I have watched him lately actually, and to be fair, for his high standards, he might have toned it down a little in the last few tournaments.
But against Fed for example at the WTF 2012 he once again attempted to throw his racket, used foul language etc. And I found that just skimming through the highlights video:

watch at 5:23

Uhm, that was nothing.

BTW, that was a very nice outfit Fed wore.

I seriously don't understand why it bothers people so much. So what, he curses a little on the court... Give the guy a break, at least he is respectful in post-match interviews unlike some people. No one is forcing you to watch him play anyway. Besides, there are many players who destroy rackets. I guess it's just different and much worse when Murray does it.

Sure, there are players who are worse with breaking racquets and so forth. But somehow he seems to have a negative attitude on court throughout most of the season. Be fair guys, how often do you see him mouthing off after a mistake to his camp, grabbing his thigh when someone has hit a winner against him or so?Maybe it's just me

He grabs body parts all the time not just when he loses a point. And yes, he swears, no one is denying that... He hates losing points, any point. I just don't understand why it bothers you so much!? It's not like he's insulting his opponents or anything.

What does that have to do with him becoming #1? Sampras managed to achieve #1 without achieving much on clay, why can't Murray?

It doesn't bother me THAT much! It's not like I get infuriated watching Murray to a degree that it spoils my day I just don't like the fact how he acts on court, it's not really what a number 1 should be doing. In fairness, he might tone it down if he ever gets to be number 1 in the world.

Djokovic still beats his chest and rips his shirts after a match, and he's #1 in the world. Give Murray a break.
