i played dubs against BNT (bolivian neck tie) with downs. he would tell downs he's going to blast a flat serve down the T. downs would be ready and blink. Ace.

and with me BNT liked to toy with me and hit drop shots at angles that defied natural laws of science and human decency. my favorites were the drop shots with me about 2 feet away from the net and he angles them in the corner by the alley. Winner.

i think the best part is BNT is prolly carrying an extra ullyses s. grant in lbs but he's pretty solid player.

true story - he actually called one of his serves out for his opponents, so he could be nice and hit them a soft second serve...they told him, it's their call and they wanted the point...he gets ****ed, then serves 3 straight 120+ mph aces to close the game...

...this was for 7.5 mixed too...like the honey badger, he does not care...

HAHAHAHAHAHA. 7.5 mixed? i didn't know you could play 4.5 with a 3.0 girl in 7.5 mixed. that's awesome. he's like a 5.0+ playing 4.5. so the disparity between him and the girl is like:

he plays 4.5...i played him in singles...i think i lost 2 and 5...

another good story -- then i'll stop -- back in the day when he was in his tennis prime -- he got a letter with an invitation into the US Open qualifying...his (now ex) wife hid the letter from him and he didn't find out years later...he cried...

is this the same guy that plays at Fairfax Racquet Club that use to play nationals for another country? If so, I have of heard of this person from 3 other sources other than here.

Does this person giggle at ppl while hitting and violates all human rights rules by drop/lobbing while watching ppl cry in mercy and pain to retrieve the ball?

It looks like there is not much difference between the legend of Chuck Norris and Gary's legend in tennis...except an accent and a better forehand.

The legend grows.

P.s. Most would tear a little for Gary regarding the us open letter. Will be a touching moment in his memoirs.

The question is what actor could play Gary in his movie?

Sounds like dude is off the NTRP scale. How does he avoid the DQ? Or more importantly why does he continue to crush your average hacker in leagues? Sort of pointless, no?

We played some 'fun' dubs after our last match. I asked for a 'third' serve. I still didn't touch it. He had fun toying with us.

He just loves to play, so he doesn't care if it is with a 3.0 or with Downs. I think he likes the challenge with the 3.0 (though, two of ours are now 3.5s)

Sunday he played 18 holes of golf, 8.5, then 7.5. His 8.5 clinched a districts spot, and he was giddy as a school girl about it. Nice to see someone so good get excited about beating up on us scrubs.

It is rumored that he played Davis Cup.

He is computer rated. Didn't get the bump to 5.0. He's kinda ticked off about it too.

I think the words Davis cup should qualify for an automatic bump to 5.0.

Guess some people just like to win, even if they crush their little sis at tic-tac-toe.

He did his job JRS. Won all his 4.5 matches. What else is he supposed to do? The computer didn't bump him up.

And don't kid yourself...Downs is playing 7.5. Other reallllly good new 4.5s are playing 7.5. Many combos are really 8.5 combos at this point (including myself and one of my partners)...its at the end of the season.

He's actually a really awesome person, and he's even lost at 7.5. Takes it with grace and moves on. Usually after buying at least one round of drinks.

Yeah, I've mentioned the terms sand and bag concerning Mr. Downs before.
