Alternatively I use my daughter. She's 3 feet. But she's also really fast, so I do get a little footwork practice in at the same time.

Mind if I ask why it has to be the quickest way? many times sets are just as cheap or cheaper than reels. That way all you have to do is open the pack.

I like this best.

Well I got a nice deal on bhb7 and msv reels from a friend. But yeah, sets are easier.

string from reel has less coil memory and not quite as easy to tangled up.

I used 3 feet stick, which I picked up from furniture store. (They have it for you to pick up to measure the space in your room.) measure 3 times to get 9 feet and then 1 feet. Then I start to use this 10 feet to get 20 or 40. Simple and quick.

I use my wingspan. (3 Full + thumb to middle of biceps = 20ft) works everytime

I have 5 increments marked on my workbench in 1' intrevals. At the end of my bench is where my reels are mounted. I just pull the string out until I reach the desired length (not always 40'), cut and string.

Works well for me and saves a little time.

problem with taking 40' off a reel is twisting. Put the reel on a pencil in one hand and hold the end with the string wrapped around a door knob. Walk to a mark 20' away and cut string.

I've marked a spot on my kitchen wall which is 20' away from the bannister going upstairs. Grab the string from the reel and loop around the bannister and walk backwards while reel unwinds til I get to kitchen spot. Cut. Then keeping ends together, walk back to bannister and cut there in half. 2 - 20' sections.

I seriously do not know if people here are joking. Am I the only guy who seriously keeps 20 feet of scrap nylon around to make sure I get the right amount every time? Measuring wingspans, arm lengths, daughters, pool tables, etc....I just hope I'm in a dense mood since it's finals time.

Here's what you do: buy a set of string that is 40 feet. Keep it. Bam, there you go. If you want to string two piece, cut it in half and keep one of the halves. Just pull off that amount from the reel and you're good to go. I have a half-set of Gosen OGSM 17 that I've been using for years.

ROFLMAO, 40' is a waste of string unless you are stringing a Gamma Big Bubba or Wilson Outer Edge.

to change an oil filter, all one needs is a screwdriver, if that.

seems to me, most racket stringers have never held a tool in their life except maybe a starting clamp. even then
they can discuss for days how a babolat/VS model somehow does something different than an eagnas version.

I have never seen anyone do this. You may be the only one!

Cheers,

I'm an arm span guy. I had my wife measure it so I know exactly how long my wing span is.

Sorry but this thread is getting to the point where I am not sure if posters are kidding to not. At least the OP has enough options.
