Default Is Sampras the only established GOAT of a slam (WIM)?

Leading winners of each slam:

Australian Open: Agassi 4, Federer 4

Roland Garros: Nadal 7 (updated in 2012)

Wimbledon: Sampras 7, Federer 7 (updated in 2012)

US Open: Connors 5, Sampras 5, Federer 5

Nadal will very likely equal 7 wins of a slam, and also likely surpass it.

Yep very historical opportunity for Nadal, given his youth especially. A shot at 8-10.

Yeah hopefully. For me I'd say 7-10.

Nadal is not going to win 10 RGs. Get real.

This GOAT talk is ridiculous.

You can't be a GOAT of just one surface, even if it is grass

He could be a GOG though.

Seems only open era is mentioned. What about the greats who played before then, there are few who would be on top.

I wouldn't bet against him doing it.

Fed has more finals than Sampras and Nadal.

Never lost a final no..because he liked to lose in the QF

Also he never lost a final because he kept losing before he reached the final..or he scuttled off and retired (no wimby apps after age 30).

Federer lost in the first round of Wimbledon 3 times. And lost in the qf in 2 of the last 3 Wimbledon. Nadal is 52-1 at Roland Garros. Federer is a mess at Wimbledon by comparison. But I thank Federer for winning a 7th Wimbledon to tie Sampras, because now there is no GOAT at Wimbledon. Now Nadal is the only GOAT in history.

no, he never lost a final because he was mentally tough

something federer generally hasn't been

nonetheless, federer was beaten by a (then) clay specialist in his backyard

sampras was never dominated by anyone
