Deit has a tough match today against T.Kwiatkowski. If he beats Kwiatkowski the real test will be Quinzi in the semis.

His improvement is very predictable and on the level of all the guys who play at better D-1 programs. To play guys outside the top 10 ITF, those are all college level players.

We know his ceiling because he is an old junior. That means he has had his growth spurt, played solely tennis for 10 plus years, and is approaching 17. So a scout at IMG or other agencies can tell you about where he will peak. They apply the criteria and know which guys are leveling off. His improvement from now on will gradually grind to a halt, just like with 99.9999999% of the players they have scouted the past 25 years.

Could he be an exception? Sure, just like you could win the next powerball.

Saw both Tai and DB in Sept at USO. Based on what I saw it is a close match. However, a lot could have changed since Sept.

OB or Eddie Herr? How about any national of any level, or ITF of any level?! I know you come off to some as hard, but you got it spot on. Any decent kid has a great win now and then. Attribute it to one player is just more on that day. But the truly good ones have a consistent showing of good wins that lead to a consistent showing of tournament wins. A single match or even single tournament does not a career make and I am shocked by how many think one day in the life of a junior player makes all the difference. Nope. Keep on keeping on TCF, you got it.

Making people believe if you say things enough it will come true is absurd. I don't mind cheering the kid on, but don't like the misleading going on.

Calm down folks. The kid had a nice run to the quarters. Let's leave it at that. The important point here is that college is the right move for most highly ranked juniors. IMHO the only time a junior should think about a direct jump to the pros is when 1) he has multiple wins and final appearances at the big events and 2) his ball striking is off the charts- at or near a pro level. I don't see that with the current crop of American boys. Kudla, Sock, and Harrison were a different story. They made the right move going pro.

Nice run Brad, congrats to you and Deit! No need to get in the gutter with that guy - he already lost all credibility here, and really is the one who should be laughed off this board... Too bad he didn't make it a permanent sabbatical .

I had to leave early so it's nice to learn that he won the match against the #4 seed from Croatia.

I'm not a tennis player or a coach so all my tennis knowledge is what I've learned by watching my kids play. In my opinion, Deitman's has a very nice game. He seems to prefer his backhand, which he hits pretty flat, over his forehand. He has a big serve. Is he pro material? I have no idea but I wish him all the best. I hope that he is enjoying the journey of junior tennis. He is easy to root for because of his cool demeanor on the court. Good job to make it to the quarterfinals of the Orange Bowl as a wild card. That's called taking advantage of the opportunity!

Congrats to Deiton!

Brad - Diet is doing great but the board is right - college is the way to go - at least for a couple of years - are you not at least thinking about that?

Good run by the kid.

Brad when defending your position, keep it clean.
Tai played smart will try and post video of match as soon as I can , As Tai said in his interview after the match is pretty much what happened Tai's game plan was to hit high looping balls and any wide defensive balls were sliced , DB looked to drive through the court which does not work on clay and basically hit himself out of the match , pretty much for the first time in the tourney played a hard court style , hurt to watch LOL

At this point you must give Tai credit he knew how he needed to play and he did it and i shook his hand and told him smart playing and it was .

My, my ,my these are children, children with parents who love them. I've chaired a few matches for DB and he is a great kid, and I've met Brad and in person he is a gentlemen. TCF, well by reading his comments he has a personal axe to grind with Brad and that is between them, they should work it out in Privae messages and quit the sniping attacks in public threads concerned with Juniors.

Brad it is clear to me that you overreacted to an attack on you and your son. You took it too far. Two wrongs don't make it right. Man up and apologize.

TCF, your in no way innocent here either, seems you owe Brad an apollogy as well.

Remember gentlemen, you are adults.

coach on the advice of several top NCAA coaches about 7 or 8 they have said over the years they have watched DB's game progress and by the time he would be ready for college he would be more ready to go after the tour what do you say to that ? I asked them why do they think that because these guys are trying to recruit and they are pointing us towards looking to go pro , always followed by but we would love him at our program ?

give me your thoughts
