nadal is best of all time at roland garros, and on clay, yes

but overall, no

firmly behind federer, sampras and borg.

you can probably make an argument for only just being above lendl despite the 3 slam difference

Nadal is the undisputed GOAT of both clay and Roland Garros, with no remotedly possible argument for anyone else. He is the most clear cut case of anyone for a particular slam or surface, man or women.

Navratilova is probably the Wimbledon GOAT, but she is not the undisputed grass court GOAT. She averaged only 6 slams at the 2 grass slams vs 6.33 for Court at the 3 she played, 7 for Graf at the 1 she played, 7.5 for Wills at the 2 she played (she never played the Australian). French Open and clay GOAT for women is probably Evert, but some would say Graf and Seles at their best were better clay courters, and faced way tougher competition on clay, in Graf's case even with the Seles stabbing the clay field of her era >>>>>> the clay field of Evert's.

Obviously for the men the grass and Wimbledon GOAT is debated amongst Sampras, Laver, Tilden (grass only), Gonzales (grass only), and Federer.

Hard courts is probably Federer for the men, but it is a surface that has only been in high prominence for 35 years anyway. U.S Open GOAT is probably Tilden, but could be Connors, Sampras, or Federer as well.

I see one guy's name on there a lot. Must be the GOAT of all slams.

Who?? None of these players appear in all slams as you suggested. Must be a blind ******* blindness symptom. Better check with a good doctor quickly or it will get even worse.

samras wasnt mentally tough when he was...

losing to george bastl
or losing to kraijeik
or losing to federer lol

and losing to nadal at wimbledon is better than losing to bastl in the 2nd rd at wimbledon
and federer won as many wimbledons as sampras..but reached loads more finals because federer is superior and mentally tougher than sampuss.

Fed can be made a case to be GOAT in 3 out of 4 slams.

What a load of total insanity and complete ignorance of tennis history.

How in the world can you claim anyone to be the greatest of all time at one of the Slams when its only the players post-1968 who got to spend their entire careers accumulating titles?

Only the most rabid fanboy would be willing to parade their ignorance in front of the world, twist the truth and ignore so much history just to claim their favorite player was the best at some event.

Even accounting for the pre-/post-Open Era divide and taking into account professional majors, Nadal still has the most clay majors with 7. Borg and Rosewall have 6.

Nadal is the only man in tennis history (not just Open Era, tennis history) to win a title 8 years in a row - Monte Carlo.

His record not just at the FO but at all other major clay events for the past 8 years is otherworldly, close to perfect.

Please tell us who else you have in mind for clay GOAT?

Rafa at RG, and Djoker could get there with the AO eventually

Nadal is the only man who can stop Djokovic at the AO maybe, considering the 2012 final. Although Murray also only lost 7-5 in the 5th set, so there is a chance Djokovic will never win the AO again if the gap continues to close, in both cases.
