I finally got to hit with it yesterday. I loved it. Only problem for me is that I felt like I swung way too fast with it. I added some lead and it totally helped but still feels a little too fast.
Also it was strung with Kirschbaum Pro Line X at 50lbs. I don't know how I feel about that because a lot of my shots were sailing out. Any suggestions on what tension I should string these bad boys at for polys Vcore89?

For me, it is just the perfect feel although I am good with K90 or K88 too, which is stiffer compared to Vcore89. The previous 2 I miss them for their serving prowess but overall I'll stick to Vcore89!

No problems with me regarding swing speeds, all are in stock form except one with 3 to 6 grams of lead under the grommets at twelve o' clock.

I'm currently using Dunlop Black Widow, strung at 52/50. Kinda settling in that general vicinity. Went down from 55/53.

Hi guys,
I am awfully tempted to make the switch!!! I am a current BLX Pro Staff 90 user, I really like this stick as it is smooth and not that 'harsh'...... my question I have read is the Yonex grip is smaller? I usually use a Wilson in a 4 1/4 BUT add 2 overgrips.....what grip should I get if I wanna buy a Yonex Vcore 89 Tour? I cannot demo as my country does not have this racket at all . Any advice/help would be appreciated, thanks in advance. |

I use G3 for the Vcore89.
...used grip 3 with the Wilson BLX PST 90, K90, K88, etc. Same with Prestige mids and all other racquets I've mostly owned with 2 exceptions. Radical midplus at G2 and RDX 500 mid at G4 (because they we're out of stock at the time); I'd rather go for G4 instead of G2 but I find G3 to be my perfect grip across grip shapes. G3s on my Vantage racquets too among other brands I've had.

Now, 3 of my Vcore89s are strung with Luxilon (ice blue) Alu Power and the other 3 with WC Turbo Twist. The former is a tad more powerful and the latter a softer feeling.

So today I finished playtesting with the vcore 89s. I really want to like them but for some reason the balance of the racquet really throws me off. Coming from the Head YTPM I am used to have that mass in the head (I play with them stock). So when I was hitting with the 89s I found that I swing a lot faster than before. But more importantly, I feel like I need some weight in the head.
Did any of you guys customize your vcore89s with lead tape? Everything about it felt great, but I just miss having some mass in the hoop.

Probably you should gradually add 3 grams at the top hoop, then 6 grams, 9 grams 12 grams (initially start at 12:00 and gradually spread out till it's about 10:00 to 14:00)?
Occasionally when i grab my lightly leaded racquet (@3-6 grams), i can already feel the additional oomph without adapting to my altered swingspeed too much.

Oh I'm probably gonna string it up with a poly between 54-52. Maybe string the crosses lower too. Can't wait!

Borrowing this thread to clear this doubt I got regarding Yonex's isometric head shape.
With the introduction of the 89T, I read that how the head shape allows it to play more like a 95sqin frame... Why is it previously on other Yonex models there isn't any comparison eg the RDS or even on the RDiS So if any Yonex gurus can share if this forgiveness is only unique to the Vcore89T or is it experienced throughout other Yonex models. Really interested to know, becos all these talk abt the 89T I'm not only interest to try out this frame but if possible other mid sized Yonex frames too |

Recently switched to the vcore from Prestige Mid. I regret I didn't switch sooner. The vcore 89 is a far superior racket compared to the Prestige mid in every aspect. The head size also feels more like a 93 or 95 even though it says 89. Large sweet spot. Incredible feel at the net. Ground strokes are a pleasure especially flat. Overall amazing so far.

just ordered two of these vcore 89, based on alot of reviews around here and every where regarding this racket. i cant demo in my country so i had to go with my instinct as i'm really attracted to the specs plus the looks
got some questions for users of this stick and hopefully i can get some help first, I bought them unstrung, i have a couple of sets of Alu Power and Pacific tough gut , which set up shall i go for ? full gut - full poly - hybrid ( which for mains and crosses ? ) i'm open for any other set up suggestions. second, leaded or stock ? how do you people prefer it ? i really hope that the vcore 89 is the one i was looking for after so many racket changes in such a short time. I dont wanna buy any moe rackets at least for another 3 years Last edited by ASH1485 : 12-18-2012 at 10:46 AM. |

So far, so good. Can't complain and definitely it is my racquet for a very long time, I'm sure. However, I am a bit intrigue with the Vcore 97. I might give it a try one of these days and see how it compares to the 89.
Of all mid pluses, only Head LM Radical grabbed my attention AND the overpowered extra light Babolat NCT Tour; which remains my favourite when I'm playing lazy tennis. On occasions I'll still whip out my trusty leaded RDX500 mid. ...so I shall hope that the 97 would be a lot better (oh yes, I expect it to be or I'll be disappointed) than Head LM Radical MP.

Borrowed the Tour 97 and play tested it for 6 hours on the courts. A lot better in the spin department compared to my old LM Radical midplus BUT I'll stay with my Tour 89, suffice to say. Way to go VCore Tour 89. Indeed it is the ultimate racquet for me thus far.

So I just received an RDiS 100 mid. Have any of you guys tried both the RDiS 100 mid and Vcore 89 and can compare? Just holding the RDiS I can tell its seems a lot bigger than the Vcore 89. Ill be taking it out for a test later today.

I have always strung with Lux Alu Pwr at 60 lbs. Same with TF X-One Biphase 17. These 2 strings are my mainstay (always on a full bed, either polys or synthetics). Never went lower than 55 lbs strung though (noticeably easier on my arms but I still crave the directional control of 60 lbs). I'd be stringing 3 of of my Vcore 89s with Tecnifibre ATP Razor Code 17 at 60 lbs later and see how it goes. Swinging fast actually is a good thing with serves but as for your forehands and backhands sailing long I'd say string a bit tighter; say, at 52 lbs?
