Fellas,
Sorry to hijack your thread, I moved to NYC in '08 and used to play pretty regularly. However due to travel, not knowing players, and the f'ing permit $ I haven't played much lately. I'd like to get going again and maybe play some tourneys. I'm at best a 3.5 now, what advice would you have?
I'm in the financial district, 37 but not out of shape and can get anywhere pretty easily.
Thanks,
Ryan

The Philippine Davis cup 3.5 team is playing at NTC Saturday night if you want to meet a ton of 3.5/4.5 GOATs.
If you live in FiDi check Hudson River Park in spring and summa. For winter Midtown West and Prospect Park are close for you. Epic GOATing at HRP.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah HRP isn't bad if you can wait 3 hours for a court .
I can't believe how much NYC wants for a yearly pass on the public courts; aren't they built with our tax dollars?
What do you think of these upcoming tourneys?

01/14/2013 Cunningham Park Winter Men's Open - 100023113
01/18/2013 2013 NCT Winter Senior Classic - 100260713
01/25/2013 Sportime Randall's Island - 100023713
01/25/2013 Huntington Men's Open Singles Winter Champ - 100360413
01/25/2013 Tiger Tennis Men's January Classic - 100568213

Thanks,
Ryan

The Cunningham tourney is especially GOATworthy as one of the most prominent Eastern 4.0 GOATs from Frushing plays it and dazzles the crowds with Epic mastery of the swing choke dropper.

I'll likely play Huntington. The courts are crap, and the scheduling is awful, but it is 15 min from home.

I've played most of the other ones, they pretty much all suck, and are overpriced.

No idea why I get the urge to play tournaments every few years.

I was sitting at the station for a minute when i realized the next train was at 7:11am. Having no concept of time (not wearing watch and cell phone died) I decided to find another way. This was probably a good idea cause I didn't have a ticket. I got into a taxi and I asked how much it would be to go home, and I think he said $40, at which point I realized all I had was $3 and a metro card. I don't remember buying a separate metrocard. Anyway, he told me to take the bus, the stop was a block away. Made my way to the stop, got on the bus, and got off ~1/2 from my house. Somehow managed to go the wrong way though, and had to have walked 10 miles. It was pitch dark when I got off the bus, and was about 8am when I finally got home. How the **** did I do that?

Well the good news is that totally oblivious to the world and with no wallet or cell phone, I found my way home from NYC. The bad news is how the hell did I get into this predicament?!

Wild turkey is heinous.

I wish I had gone with you guys because your epic journey would not have happened if gramps Dali was there. I'm the baby sitter and not the partier.

Hey Fellas,
I think I'm going to play in the Cunningham event - probably get my ***** handed to me but oh well. Any of you interested in hitting Saturday or Sunday. I could travel to any of your indoor places and split cost. I'm not a member anywhere, but would be available Saturday afternoon or evening and anytime Sunday. Let me know and I'll send you my contact info.
Thanks,
Ryan

What level are you Ryan?

These guys live way out on LI.

Not sure if they'll be GOATing in the city.

I'm done with tennis but for the occasional Filipino Davis Cup practices at NTC.

I played 4.0 leagues up til '08. Haven't played much since and am very rusty. I'd like to get some good hits in before the Cunningham; I'll enter no matter what though (jonesing for something competitive).
I live near Fulton St and can get to NTC easily on the 7. Also easy to CityView if anyone is a member there.
Thanks Joe.

I'm sticking to once a month Filipino Davis Cup practices at NTC.

I've lost the eye of tiger for tennis.

I'm focusing on boobies at this age.
