Lost in the RG3 mania is the other end of the Skins' draft chart...Alfred Morris now is over the 1,100-yard season mark and cements the Shanahan reputation for grooming unknown RBs for his cutback, zone blocking scheme.

Luck & RG3 get most of the rookie media attention but the first-year M&M twin RBs have earned some ink...Doug Martin in Tampa and Morris are great breakthroughs at a position that usually takes a bit longer to succeed at on the pro level.

The college kids in general now seem to be more prepared for the pro ranks and have gotten better across the board as rookies. Pretty soon there will hardly any talent decelpment left. It will be all system based learing curves.

The NFL has it made by not having to have leagues that cost them money to develop talent. The NBA is close with that stupid D-League.

MLB and Hockey 98% of young players need years to get to the level of the pros. Costing the leagues milions of dollars in revenue.

Texans @ Pats matchup is huge this week and it's a good chance it's just a tuneup for the AFC title game. I like the Texans due to a little bit stouter defense and better balance on offense. It will be a test for them though...third straight road game (6-0 away record is impressive) and probable foul weather vs Brady & Co.

JJ Swatt to the rescue...the man sacks and swats with the best of them...Houston 31-27!

oh my...

Please tell me some of you caught Rob Parker discussing RGIII on First Take the other day. He should be probably be out of a job, people have been fired for much less.

When Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless look sane there's an issue.

No doubt. ESPN has gotten worse every year for the last decade and now its not even watchable. I bet they dont even fire the dumbass but will probably give him his own show.

Didn't work out so well with the Texans in Foxboro this week. Good luck with the Colts though and

GO PATS!

The Texans were still on CST as they didn't show up until an hour or so into the game. As to the Colts, Houston draws them twice in the final three weeks...4th-quarter Luck may run dry at least once this season but he's still the story of the season with all the comebacks.

Should be an interesting conclusion of the regular season everywhere if there are as many nail biters as this past week.

Amazing day in the NFL, capped off by SNF classic near comeback by Pats! Rookie QBs account for three wins with a second-year guy getting another. Backup rookie Cousins puts 38 on the board for the 'Skins. Rookie Wilson leads Seahawks to second-straight 50-count. 'Fins keep faint playoffs alive behind rookie Tannehill. Sophomore Kaepernick outduels Brady. What a day...only missing a Luck-y comeback from the Colts.

Falcon beatdown of the Giants was impressive and sets up a three-way dash for the NFC East after the 'Skins/'Boys wins.

Gonna be a great last two weeks!

Regarding the SNL skit....
I hate it when a team plays conservative defense against an accurate QB. You'd think the 49'ers, of all teams, should know this.
Thru years of Brodie, Montana, Young, the only teams to beat them sacked their QB's at least 6 times, and knocked him down at least 15 times.
Either that, or they stuffed the run and the pass, by stacking the line of scrimmage.
What, you may ask, is the counter? You rush the QB relentlessly and use fresh legs. You maintain your line gaps, crowd one side, and rush a DB or OLB.
You do not play conservative defense.
And you certainly don't play conservative offense, like running Gore every single 1st and 10 up the middle.
You throw in tons of slants, swing passes, and draw plays.
Little of which the 49'ers tried.

Yup, they didn't. 30 day suspension WITH pay.

Way to send a message ESPN. Same punishment as the "chink in the armor guy." Except the other guys was in all likelihood an honest mistake.

Rob parker should have been gone along time ago, he has never been any good.

My buddy described first take as this.

"Skip vs Steven A and whatever other random black guy they pick for that day"

Im pretty much down to watching the 30 for 30's, NBA countdown, and PTI.

Niners on SNF 2nd straight week on the road and facing very similar conditions in Seattle...cold, rainy and LOUD! Seattle's "D" will be tougher...no shootout like at the RazorBowl last week. Will be surprised if it gets much past 40 total points despite Wilson & the 'Hawks posting 50+ two weeks running. 'Hawks 21-17 is my guess.

Congradulation to Calvin Johnson for breaking Jerry Rice record for most receiving yards in a season.

His eighth straight 100-yd game set a record and he can become the first receiver with 12 100-yd games in a season next week. Congrats & good luck next week...2,000 yards is within reach too!

Today I'll be cheering for AD Peterson...less than a year removed from reconstructive knee surgery and knocking on the door for both 2,000 yards and Dickerson's all-time season rushing record. This, in a pass-happy era on a team with close to zero of a passing game...truly amazing!

Yeah, what a year this is. If Peterson breaks Dickerson's record, I don't who has a better year between Johnson and Peterson. Extraordinary achievement.

Gotta be Peterson, if he gets there.

As Jon Gruden pointed out constantly last night, in spite of being a great achievement, a lot of Megatron's yards this season have been meaningless, picked up when down big against teams in soft coverage.

Both of their feats are incredible especially when every defense knows who will get the ball.

Not to mention the rules are heavily favoring receivers now compared to before.

Total rushing plays per game throughout the league is way down, which makes Peterson's achievements even more incredible. His YAC is better than most backs' total yards. Meanwhile, with all the extra pass plays we have a couple of guys (Watt, Aldon Smith) within reach of Strahan's season sack record.
