Yeah sorry about that. Paul said 27.25" would give a swing weight approx. 327. The 27.5" approx. 335.

To anyone questioning their customer service, Paul was terrific with me helping me settle on the best specs.

Said my frame should be constructed this weekend!

No worries. Just a misunderstanding of your post.

I happen to live near Paul and he not only made up a racket for me to demo, he hand delivered it to my house! Now that is good service. A personal service based on trust is a winning combination when backed up by a quality product.

Lets hope he can build the brand back up to where it was.

Not sure if this qualifies as customer service, but I messaged Paul through his website asking him if I could buy some grip pallets for putting on a used Angell frame I was thinking of buying on TW, and he never replied. I suppose it's not in his interest to sell pallets, because it creates a bigger market for used frames taking away sales from the new ones.

I also have a Vantage VT221B I bought it with a larger grip size hoping to replace it with a smaller pallet, I emailed the website that still sells the custom frame in US, but the vantage people never responded. So I put it up for auction and it's still up, but I don't think there is a demand for a frame with a larger grip size.

FWIW, Paul seems pretty responsive on Twitter -- you could try that channel.

Yeah it was probably a mistake to do it through his website, but I didn't know his email address.

It's too late now, I am selling the Vantage for dirt cheap on the "fe****" and just bought a Pro One 97 so going to give that a try.

I must say that the Vantage did have a unique feel to it, maybe it was psychological because I know it's made out of "High Modulus Carbon Fibre" (that's what it says on it) and that just sounds too cool! It's the same stuff the Mclaren F1, the Bugatti Veyron and the Batmobile are made out of!

Vantage is not now Angell sports. Vantage is now Vantage International:

Paul Angell split off to make his own brand. I've dealt with Sven since the break, and he's putting out the same quality Vantage frames he always did.

That'snot really true, vantage tennis (the original company)became Angell sport, "vantagetennisintl" was registered in the US by Sven for Paul when they set up togther as it's a lot easier to work thorough the US legal system (pretty much any countries in fact) when you are physically there.(Dates can be checked online somewhere for the reg of both compaines somewhere IIRC)
The racquets design/ mold etc still belong to Paul so when the U.S stock has run out it'll be interesting to see what happens then.

Sven bought out Paul's share of Vantage, so I don't see how Vantage could have become Angell. Paul sold his part of the business to Sven, then they squabbled over some of the stuff afterwards (Paul refused to hand over the facebook account, for example). Sven's still been making customs for the college team I coach and they are the same great quality etc as always. I don't know how Paul would have kept the mold etc when Sven was the one who came away with the business name and was physically the one making rackets in the US.

Who told you Sven bought anything?Sven made no indication of that when i spoke to him a few months back and Paul certainly didn't.
I think you're misinformed about the racquets, they are not made in the US the hairpins sent to him and they assemble the racquet to the customers specs,(weights/ grommets)I have no doubt he has been supplying the "same great quality" they are the stock he built up when with Paul, they are the same as they were, as i said before it'll be interesting to see what happens when they have sold out.
Paul designed them, paid for them to be made so yes they, the intellectual property of them would belong to him.I highy doubt they've ever actually been in the USA and would of spent most of their lives probably in China having racquets made from them.
THe reason the vantage facebook acc etc remaned with Paul is because they are his, vantage tennis was his, he created it and Sven was his partner in the US, you take someone on board to sell for you under a license agreement that's what it is, if they stop paying you the fee each month/quarterly/year then they are not involved anymore. Legally person B isn't entitled to keep selling under the same name (or copy a website-if it was his, why doesn't it work as it used to where you could build a frame one step at a time?) however the cost of going through the courts to stop someone is huge for a niche company and can't be worthwhile.

Forgot this bit, If that is the case, why has he called it "intl" not just vantage tennis as the company was?

You're absolutely right on the manufacture of the rackets - brain fart on my part (woken up super early by the kids today so I'm still half asleep). I won't claim to know facts, and frankly I don't want to speak on Sven's behalf. I've heard some things from a couple of different places, and won't for a second pretend like I know the absolute of what happened!

I only ever dealt with Sven. He always did the right thing by me and my team. Since the split he has continued to do so. I am not meaning to speak ill of Paul at all - I've never even talked to the guy let alone dealt with him. Honestly I wasn't really thinking about what Sven will do for frames moving forward. It will be interesting! It'd also be interesting to know the truth of what happened between them, but I guess only they will really ever know.

I know those mornings!!!
It's a shame whatever happened happened because Im sure given a decent push over there they would of become (more)popular because it is a very good "old school" product in a time of too much marketing hype, just glad i found them.
I've delt with both over the years having ordered from over there (in the US) when i was there and here for both vantage and angell frames.
I've had more dealings with Paul recently, though as a customer Sven did right by me so no complaints there, it's just a shame it ended the way it did esp with the owner designer having to relaunch to avoid confusion when he had put so many years into his baby.
Hope you manage to get some sleep, it's what i asked for for Christmas!!

I could be wrong but I seem to remember Sven saying money had changed hands. That's where things like the facebook came into question - access was supposed to be part of the deal. But like I said, we'll never really know what happened (unless maybe they both come out and tell the same story).

I order from tennis-warehouse US all the time, string sets, and for a 50$ US order I pay something like 15$ for shipping.
