I've been today listening to the Christmas channel on the radio and realizing, perhaps now that I've experienced a good many Christmases, various kinds of Christmases, that it is really the religious tunes that do the best for me. The superficial commercialism stuff just hits and moves on, never much sticking, but it is favorites like "Away in a Manger" and "The First Noel" and "O Come O Come Emmanuel" that really connect with the heart, my heart, and also connect deeply with our western civilization's most basic notions.
So Merry Christmas! Have a present (or not, if you wish). Have some good food, and relax and stretch out your legs and recognize the gift of good friends and families and the great gift of God in sending his son for man's redemption. Merry Christmas to all here; peace.

I'll be doing all of that, apart from the food. I've eaten clean all year, changing it for one day will probably make me balloon up and feel awful. Family times, no mince pies is what i'm going for |
