Why do you have a bad feeling? LOL You can't stand the guy and now you have a bad feeling. Mate the only bad feeling you should have is if Fed has to play against him at the majors this year because he will lose to Rafa again as usual

I think his knee is still bothering him quite a bit and he used this as an excuse to get out of playing there. If Nadal were anywhere near ready to play he would have played Abu Dhabi. That appearance fee is far too large not to.
He sounded very sure just a few days ago that he was going to play and decide if to play Doha/AO based on how he felt. Hard to think his knee could have gotten worse...

He isn't going to play the event, he's surely not getting paid.

Wow! Lucas Rosol really eradicated every ounce of belief and confidence from Nadal's being!

I think that bad feeling is actually hope. I can sense the unbridled glee some of these ****s are feeling right now through the computer screen. Lol.

The money isn't going to be there forever either. Nadal's cashing in as much as he can before his name is worthless. No fans support losers.

Murray can kick his butt too, now. This is Fishy. Why doesn't Rafeal just fly to Australia early and see how his body feels. If he is serious at all about Aussie open then he would get there early and get used to the conditions.

I hope he can recover soon enough to get a few matches in before Australia.
at the bolded part.
Seriously, it is difficult to believe that he would actually withdraw due to a stomach virus. I mean, does it really last that long ? Would he have withdrawn from a slam or any other regular ATP event citing the same reason ?

Considering that a lot of money is at stake, this makes the most sense. It is possible that he had some kind of agreement with the tournament organizers whereby they paid him to use his name in their promotions even if he was not guaranteed to play. Not saying he willingly lied about planning to take part in the exho earlier, but the organizers may have left him with the option of announcing his withdrawal if he didn't want to play depending on how things panned out.

Laughing my a** off. See what I told you guys? Next time it will be mono for AO.

Joking aside, isn't this really getting fishy? I mean it's a bit too much now isn't it?

I wonder who's gonna replace Nadal now? My guess will be on Tsonga, or maybe someone in the top 20 who's free.

You speak as if you know something about me. Kindly leave the thread. Rafa is one of my favorite players to watch, and one of the main reasons I play tennis. Just because I can't stand all you *******s doesn't mean I don't like the player.

You and *** should go shack up.

And I have a bad feeling because I dont want him to retire. I want him to keep going, he keeps things more interesting.

He could have played anyway ! Even if he loses, it's only an exho anyway. Just make an appearance and then lose. I guess his thoughts are not my thoughts.
What does he play next ?

Part of the withdrawing is Murray. Nadal has a virus and you know Murray is the last opponent he'd want to play in this situation. If this were a regular event with a regular oaf in the first match, Nadal would have played, just to get a quick match or 2 under the belt. He plays Doha next.

You know we are human beings too and Federer doesn't revolve around our lives.

We are not that low to continue hating when he in a terrible position of his career. When he comes back to full strength....then we may begin just like the *******s.

Nadal isn't such a threat to Federer sucess right now and never will be again. Yeah Nadal would win some future encounters with Federer. Federer will still win titles and maybe a slam or two with/without Nadal presence.

Nadal not competing is bad for the game....he pulls in just as much as or more than Federer into the game.

I think us ****s baring the extreme ones would like to see Nadal retire when he feels done with the sport, not because of a serious injury.

You guys are the ones who are gleeing over Nadal injury. Constantly probing the **** base on this issue. Pretty lame to take a stab on such a serious thread.

I still think it would be the knees and not the stomach virus. Then again it weird that Federer, Nadal and many other players get stomach virus from Abu Dhabi or Doha.

I personally think Nadal will come back on clay. Start where you are confident and pick up steam just like he did in 2010. He made his move in Monte Carlo.

He defintly not winning Doha,AO, IW and Miami with the condition he is in.

Since Murray looks up to Nadal, he may not want to pass on the virus to Murray, perhaps ?

Yeah I know, Nadal himself already said he's not winning the Australian Open. Winning was never in the comeback plan until the clay season. The plan is not to win, but rather to play.

Because Murray causes Nadal to grind severely. If Nadal plays Murray then virused-Nadal would have to either make a fool out of himself by not running for the balls, or endure a typical grind. Its not like Raonic or Karlovic etc.

As well as Federer played during that match which I saw live at the O2 (great performance), Nadal didn't seem to have anything in him that day. Obviously indoor is his worst surface but he didn't look like himself that day.

Does the virus last that long? Depends, me personally, last time I suffered that, I was totally KO for almost a week and the last thing on my mind was tennis, felt so tired. If he's really suffering from that, which is believable at this time of the year, I don't think he could of played competitively.
