Last week i had a flu. Now i have recovered but only have some cough but i don't feel tired, so today i decided to go to the court after 1 week. Despite i didn't have any problem with my movement or energy levels, i clearly had the worst game of my life. I was so useless that my coordination was totally broken. I couldn't even hit the ball with the sweetspot, my whole direction control was lost.
I wonder if the sickness effects your hand-eye coordination or i was just not in the mood and had a bad playing game. |

Bad idea - you're still sick and should rest a bit more. Take a few days off and you'll be back at 100%

Thoughtless to play if you have the flu. The balls, touched by both you and your opponent, can be a vector of infection.

Since you were sick for a week, I'm assuming you took the week off and didn't play tennis. So, are you sure it's not just rust due to the week long lay off?

Technically you can't kill anything that isn't alive.

The weird thing is, I've played tennis before with colds. I've also played people who have had colds. I can't remember anytime where one of us has transferred germs to the other person. I purposely don't shake hands if I'm sick.

I'd play with it, but I'd take one thing in consideration which is the person I'm playing. I'd let them know that I'm sick with the flu but I'm trying to play through it(assuming these are pick up matches). If they have no problem with it, I'd play through it. I think it helps me to play through it. If we stopped playing everytime we were not 100 percent most of us would never get to play. I've always got something sore on me. I'm 44 so I've just come to understand I'll do what I can to keep the soreness away but I won't stop playing everytime that I'm not 100 percent. I say as long as the other person is cool with it...roll with it.

My plan for being sick has always been to train through it. When I was playing soccer in college I would suit up and go for a long run. Felt like hell the whole time but when I was done I would sleep and then feel better. No science behind it that I know of but thats what I did.
