LOL. Agreed. I don't like to attempt play on wet courts because of the likelihood of slipping and getting hurt. But as much as I LOVE hot weather tennis, I can't stop playing just because of temperature. Unless the wind is an issue, I've played (and DO play) at temps well below 40. You layer up, and as you warm up you remove layers. Geez, guys, this is TENNIS! How can you not play when you have a chance??? LOL

It's a slow hard court surface and it wasn't actually slippery if you can believe that. Of course no runnnig out wide. But we were able to hit singles for like two hours, and also play doubles. Sounds crazy but hey we got to play. I guess we have a special group.
I have that same addiction. There is no treatment that I'm aware of. LOL.

Henin, no doubt. How about that match this year with Sharapova, she bageled someone in the set but the opponent had game points in all six games, it was a real war of a set but Maria won it by bagel. That has to be a very very rare occurence, if not the only time it's ever happened.

Freaky like the time Sampras served the rocket that busted clear through Rafter's strings, in Cincy I think it was. Odd how people never mention that.

It really doesn't get much more hardcore than that ) All I can think of is the guy in England who played for 44 hours straight, name is Christopher Bowers. We'll have to start a thread about the most hardcore examples of tennisaholics : )

"mighty cold"...
Average days I play are in the upper 50's.
ONCE, in the past 2 years, I got to play on a hot day, like 82 degrees, and promptly died.

LeeD, that was Lenny Bruce who said that when he took up flying without learning how to land--or maybe it was some bar pilot.

You got'ta head down to the desert, that's where all the tournament action is this time of year.

Quick metric conversion (Celsius)...

50 Fahrenheit = 10 Celsius
75 Fahrenheit = 24 Celsius
100 Fahrenheit = 38 Celsius

The hottest I've played was at 40 Celsius (not a full match, practice session only), I couldn't even do overheads because of how bright the sun was!

The lowest was probably in the low teens Celsius. Took ages to warm up, need to move constantly.

Problem is the balls get crazy heavy if it's standing water.
So when will you guys play the epic sets or match? Gotta be indoor. Winner gets a free beverage afterward?

A well kept secret in the tennis world is that you can play in a pouring rain on those Aussie CLASSIC CLAY artificial grass/sand courts and the balls don't fuzz up. The court drains great, hardens up and doesn't puddle like har-tru. The silica sand wicks the balls dry and they are like new after five hours of playing in a pouring rain...don't tell anyone you heard it from me. The club players absolutely hate the stuff, for no good reason, want to get rid of it and turn it back into a hard court--for more bar time I suppose.
