Still running the pro gun lobby view despite the fact you pretend otherwise.

Since there was no way for me to find that out...it was much easier to go to another movie.lol I'm for peopel being able to own guns as well. Even if I had one on me on Christmas I still would have gotten up and left. I would only use one if someone made me do so. I wouldn't have wanted to sit there and have a shoot out with the guy when i can easily just go on to another movie as I did. I appreciate your insight on this. They really need to change their policies with all the fools and copy cats out here now. If you have to do laundry that day it's probably best you see a movie another day.

that is why I built a media room... I can hardly stand to go to a public theater now. 1/3 of the time something irritates me (talking, baby, hat head, poor seat)

I missed my flight once in Memphis, TN. The airline put me on next flight which is 6 hours later. I did not go to movie, I went to Graceland.

Still. You are not seriously expecting me to buy Hot Tamales from you for $4.50 a box when I can get them at the drug store next door for $1 and slide them into my purse, are you?

I think movie theaters have reached the tipping point with the snacks. You are going to have to find a new way to bring in revenue because I'm unwilling to pay it anymore.

And . . . Netflix is making it very hard to decide to take the family to a movie. We have a huge TV in the basement, we can make all the popcorn we want, we can pause or rewind, and we don't have some drooling moron next to us talking or texting the whole time. If we don't like the movie, we can dump it and fire up another one. All for the low, low price of $8.00/mo.
Let me put it very frankly; If you do not support your local theater then plan on watching everything at home on Netflix or whatever your preferred content provider is. DO NOT blame the theater for their pricing, we have to make a living as well. Do you believe that we are there to show movies to the masses? No, sorry not it. If you want to take a stand, great tell Hollywood that actors shouldn't make millions of dollars to make the films, or directors or the assistant to the assistants assistant. Hollywood could care less if the cities with populations under a million had a theater anyway. Hollywood (aka distribution) only wants there product in major cities. Exhibition (aka your local or regional theater chain) brings the movies to the masses. If we only showed movies and sold NO concessions, we would make absolutely no money. Selling concessions is what we do, the movies are window dressing plain and simple. Something to attract patrons, but if the patrons don't support us we won't be there long. Every business has to profit, otherwise they cease to exist.

I could spend a week giving you the break down on how my profession works, but in the end you are going to justify it by saving a a few bucks. Whatever...my intention was to put a little known fact out there.

Discussion now back to the OP's topic.

The great studios are multi-billion dollar corporations and I'm sure they're the problem and not actors or directors.

The studios stiff the theatres on profit and hence they make money from inflated prices on food and drink that stiff the consumer.

I can't see why consumers should like this mess, although it's clear that BiG MEDIA COMPANIES are ultimately responsible.

bullcockey. that's why all the other nonesense got deleted except what was relevant. All that nonesense about Africa and where the President came from had no business in here and that's why they deleted it. Take that nonsense somewhere else. I'm talking about a man that was carrying a big enough bag to house 3 or 4 days worth of clothing in a movie theatre and actually got a response from a manager and that's what I was looking for as well as what people thought about bags in theatres. I definately support the rules. You will never see on here where I attacked anyone unless they attack me first. I don't call people names for their view points. If I did, I'd be banned like they do anyone else.

I stand by that statement. What's your point. The premise for the thread to begin with was the fact that this guy could have had anything in his bag and while I support his yours or anyone else's right to have a gun, I just don't think it's needed at a local theatre and neither is a bag of that size. What is not needed is people in here taking racist shots at the president. His race or where he comes from has nothing to do with gun laws in this country and that's why that nonesense got deleted. What's your point?

No, this is good stuff. It's along the same topic because we are discussing a big bag that was brought. An arguement can be made that he came to see three movies and brought breakfast lunch and dinner as opposed to a big gun. Having you in here whether I agree or not will help explain why they do they what they do. What are describing is the exact same thing I hear about gas stations. We biotch and moan about the price of gas but let them tell it...they aren't making enough to survive off the gas to sustain. The real money is made inside off the cokes, chips...twinkies & *****. I'm not going to lie. I to have starting using netflix as a primary way of watching movies. I think I'm still getting the shaft. I think I'm paying 9.99 a month where Cindy is paying 8 bucks. Got to look into that. I use the movies only for special movies like Django. I'll go see any movie Denzel Washington puts out as well. Most of the other's I'll probably wait until it hits netflix. I appreciate you explaining how this works. I understand what you are saying and you being in that industry I can respect what you are trying to convey to us. You though as well have to understand that we are as consumers already getting the shaft for things we have to have like gas and food. The last thing someone is going to do is go into the movies and pay 6 bucks for some skittles when we can get 3 bags next door for 3 dollars. The consumer is going to do do what's best for them just as anyone else. It's a hard thing for me to believe though that these people aren't making much money and the money they make comes from beverages. They have added so many new theatres here and all of them appear to be doing well. That's a lot of popcorn and coke. It's funny she mentioned going next door. There happens to be a dollar tree or something that opened up next to the movie I attend most of the time. I wonder how much candy they sell on a daily basis.lol If and when you have time....I'd like to see it broken down. My attitude may change. It just right now looks like a complete screwing from the consumer's point of view. Again, Thanks for your insight. I for one have a lot more than I thought I would.

I didn't assume anything. You simply relied on the possibility of a misreading because you didn't have the courage to state your opinion directly.

What are you guys doing paying 10 bucks and over for a movie. I just pay 3.50 for 2nd run films and it a nice theatre with stadium seating. My area is overfilled with theaters and too few movie fans. As for the junk food at theaters, come on what kind of in shape person eats that stuff.
