I lost my tournament match today, so now let the string testing begin. I strung up the Genesis B Power Prototype just now. This one also feels quite nice just bouncing balls off it. We shall see how it plays on court...

I cut out my sets of Tier One Triumph this evening. I'm debating about cutting out my other two rackets which have 2 sets each on the DM in there. While I hate cutting out relatively new strings, I also like to rotate my rackets equally. If I do cut them out, I can put in the Genesis Multi Max and the Triumph.

The Triumph looks suspiciously like DM down to the color. I put them both up against the light and they look the same. The only difference I can detect is in smell so I'm guessing something about the coating is different. Both strings are very smooth.

Are you interested in trying Donnay X-Copoly 17?

Not looking at trying any polys for a few months.

Played 2 long sets of singles today and 2 long sets of dubs after that. I used the Hex Comfort for 1 set of singles and 1 set of dubs. I did the same for the B Power. So I think I have a good feel for these 2 strings now.

Unfortunately, the Hex does not have any extra spin versus other multis and it moves around like crazy. The bright spot for this string is ground strokes, I felt really confident in rallies.

The B Power was a little more inconsistent on ground strokes. I did like it better on serves where I was able to get a little more pop.

Everything else was fairly average with these strings. Nothing exceptionally good or bad.

Probably Mantis Comfort Synthetic 16 and Head RIP Control 16 if you don't count prototype strings. The RIP Control did seem to have quite a few random flyers though.

I played 2 sets of singles and 2 sets of doubles with the Genesis Hex Comfort last night. The touch is definitely good with this string. Comfort is good too. I don't know why but it seems like even though I like the string, I'm having trouble finishing points with it. I tend to miss just by a few inches. The strings are a mess, moving all over the place. Most strings that have done that in the Exo Tour have not lasted too long but I did not see any major notching.

I have links to all my reviews on the first post of this thread. I've tried out Biphase 16 but not 17...yet:

http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=352048

BTW, I saw in another thread you were looking for reviews of Gamma Professional. I'll be playtesting that most likely in late January.

I have also tried Black Widow as a main string. It had too much spin, everything was landing short. It was soft though.

Yay Gamma Professional!

If you are bothered by string movement (I'm not because I've never found any multi that doesn't move like crazy on me) then GPro will probably annoy you a bit. But the ball just feels so awesome coming off a tight string bed with GPro that it's totally worth it (IMO)

Most of my multi setups look like spaghetti after a set or two in my 16x18 Exos. The tension I'm using is 50 pounds because my rackets are so flexible which only compounds the problem of string movement.

I could not imagine stringing GPro that low. It's so incredibly soft that (IMO) you don't need (or want) to. I used to string some of the off brand multis low (like Pro Supex Maxim Touch or Tourna Quasi Gut). I would string them on my lock out at around m:54,x:51

But then I got a constant pull machine, and I started in addition, upping the tension b/c I was having trouble keeping the ball in. Then I discovered GPro and realized that I got the same soft, cushy, ball-pockety feeling from it even strung fairly high on a constant pull (m:61,x:59).

That's the tension I've been using consistently with it. I've considered even nudging it a tad higher but haven't tried it yet.

The Exo Tour has a flex rating of 52. It just does not have any pop, so you need the lower tension to compensate for the high flex. KCraig is using gut/poly in the low 50s with the same racket.

Wilson Gut and Mantis Comfort are the two softest strings I've tried. The fact that Pacific Tough Gut has the word "tough" in it would lead me to believe without playtesting that it is more stiff.

Take these numbers with a grain of salt. I've found many cases where my arm disagrees with their limited test data.

I probably should add a note in my playtest of Multi Feel that I think they changed the formula I tested. When I tried it as a cross most recently, it seemed much stiffer.

X3 cheers for mikeler's multis!!!

I tried my first set of gut. Was going to try klip legend for some mid priced gut. The stringer was out of it so they subbed Boris becker hero 60#. It's dyed orange and took a about 30 min to break in or maybe it was me getting use to it.

What I noticed first was that it was powerful fr the get go. First serves where moving. The more aggressive I played, the better the ball quality. It shined for me on the bh slice, direction control, punch volleys and even touch and feel shots. Had a great sounding pop after it settled in. It looks really ratty now but there isn't as much notching...just fraying.

Some days it would drizzle a bit so I took out the racquet with PPA at 60# and put the gut away. I follow this thread and decided to try xcel, PPA, multi feel (got TGV by accident) after reading the reviews here.

PPA was ready fr the get go. No break in period. It was just as comfy as the hero gut but a little less power. It had that nice crisp sound on volleys. A good sounding string makes the soul feel good.

I personally will go back to PPA before I try Hero again.

Thanks for the many reviews.

Gamma pro is on my radar too. I heard it took what was good with Live Wire XP up a notch (which I've hit with happily). Excellent power, bite, feel, and plenty comfy. I had it strung up at 57#.
