Default ATP tour money

The player No. 150 on the PGA's 2012 money list is Nick O'Hern, who made $489,375. The player No. 150 on the ATP's 2012 money list is Joao Souza, who made $176,662.

challenger participation is down....

And the tennis player probably has far higher travel expenses.

If you consider that the #150 player on the ATP probably never gets off a side court where he's entertaining perhaps a few hundred people, and he may have never been on TV, the money is easier to understand. Once you get past the rankings that make up the field of a typical tournament, these other guys are out in the weeds somewhere.

True, but how many people could identify either one of those 150 players on each tour? Golfers get more because they have a great TV deal, 40-50 weeks on TV all in the US, cheaper travel costs and more prize money PGA is the way to go.
