I felt like spin was lacking, but other than that, pretty good string for the price.
Try the 36lbs ... then tell me about the spin it produces compared to Alu Rough

This string at that low tension will play very good for about 4-6hours, then you will notice some lost in tension.

Which thread is that? I saw your thread about Gamma doing away with their Ice line, but nothing about Dunlop.

So dunlop ice is not being discontinued? Hopefully not, as it is a great string.

No... I don't think so... Either way, I have a fair amount of it.

I liked the 55lbs one a little more... I usually like my poly at low tension, but this I like at mid range.

How is this compared to other polys? Like MSV specifically? Im thinking about buying a reel. I need a good performing poly that I dont mind stringing every week.

MSV is one of the few strings I haven't used.... Sorry. Has a fair amount of control... Its like Alu Rough that holds tension... Buy a set and try it out, if you like it buy a reel.

I'm all in with the Ice. Bought a reel of the 17 gauge. Love this stuff.

How does this compare with bhbr, black magic, and isospeed baseline spin? I might want to pick up a reel if it as good as you all say.

I wouldn't say it's extremely spin oriented, but there is some spin. Moderate power, not too much. I can't compare it to much though, as I don't have much reason to buy strings that aren't Dunlop, although I have played with a couple other strings... Mostly multis though and a few polys... It sort of reminds me if Prince Beast.

Its a crisp string. Plays kind of like lux. Replaces 4g mains for me which is an accomplishment. The spin is really good for what i need. More importantly, the control is top notch.

Not to mention that the 4G is 3x more than the Ice...

Nice review folks.

Our Pal Zapvor got mixed up with the fact that Gamma is getting rid of many of their offerings and one of them is their version of ICE. Dunlop has just released their Ice.. and it is not going away. Therefore Gamma does not equal Dunlop. Maybe DD can come and clean out the mis-information. It can't be helping with the sale of Dunlop string products... See POST #23..

Yah zapvor made a confusing post that barely cleared up what he said. Ice is actually brand new and is probably being sold right now at an entry price to get people hooked. I bet reels will go up to $80, but that is still a steal for what you get.

Dunlop has some nice offerings in their string line.. but they do very little to create any buzz around those offerings. They have some great price/performers. I used to play their Max Comfort multi which was dirt cheap..played crisp and offered great comfort. I think it is still being offered as Comfort Syn.. and it is like $5.50 a set? Have to look at the offerings from Tourna and Dunlop for some very nice strings.. before paying the big dolllars for string like RPM... ALU Power etc. If you really good enough to take advantage for the slight differences then go for it.

The Ice sounds like a great string for the price. If it made you move from the 4G.. it has to be a interesting string!!!

Happy Hitting..

It really is similar to 4G, but I think 4G is a little boardy feeling in comparison. And I'll pass that on to the marketing folks.
