March of the wooden soldiers with Laurel & Hardy. Fantastic old movie.

Saw the Hobbit today. Very good! The 48 frame per second 3D. Very sharp visuals, great pacing, looking forward to parts 2 and 3

I saw Les Miserables two days ago and I have to say, it's the best musical I've ever seen.
With a star studded cast featuring Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter, and Dakota Fanning, I came in with high expectations. Each and every cast member thoroughly impressed me. What was more impressive was the fact that they all sang the songs live instead of voicing over the scenes with pre-recorded songs. And Tom Hooper's style was very evident as the cinematography was wonderful (he also directed The King's Speech). Plus, the story was all new to me as I had never read the play nor seen any other renditions of it. I was beyond compelled by the stories of love, revolution, and redemption in this movie, and at that I highly recommend it to everyone! Also, I saw Django Unchained yesterday. It might as well be titled Tarantino Unchained because it was pure Tarantino with the big, bold comic texts, gushing blood and gore, and viciously dark humor. Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, and Leonardo DiCaprio are all brilliant, and though the movie is a little too long nearing three hours, it manages to thrill, entertain, and draw in some big laughs (with a few cameos too). Just a word of caution: there is a LOT of profanity, so if you have a child, or if you are a child, you shouldn't let them see it. |

Cannibal Holocaust.
Great jungle movie made by Ruggero Deodato in the early 80's. Some very gruesome scenes, especially one where a tortoise/turtle gets killed and ripped apart, had me turning my eyes away and resting them on the girl for a while. The movie basically makes fun of the Mondo "documentaries" that were quite popular back then.

Theater: "Django Unchained," almost up to the brilliance of Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" (Christoph Waltz is great again, along with Leo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson)
DVD: "Midnight in Paris," very literate and witty, and it makes me want to visit Paris once more (perhaps to see Rogi win his second French Open?) |

Seven Pounds
Enjoyable and touching movie, but I felt the ending was a bit weird. They could have used so many other methods to end the movie, but they used one that I thought didn't make sense. |

MIB3 - Entertaining as were the 1st 2. Nothing new; the typical craziness that is MIB. Josh Brolin's deadpan stacatto delivery is very good as a young Agent K.
Bourne Legacy - Again, entertaining but just a new twist on the spy vs the Company theme from earlier Bournes. Of course the ending just screams for the next installment. |
