great final cut short by looks like injury to edberg...

a wonder how TW would react to something like this today LOL

according to match highlights this macth was seriously 50-50.

man if edberg wins this his salm count goes to 7.

Interesting how in the small segment shown, Lendl continues to play to Edberg's backhand which was always known to be his strongest wing.

Edberg's forehand was so strange but I don't think I eversaw him hit the net with it...amazing considering that weird arm path and that conti grip.

a while ago someone around here dug up a long-term statistical analysis of edberg's forehand. long story short, it looked a lot worse than it really was.

of course, what can't be gauged is the opportunity cost of not having developed a more offensive-minded stroke off that wing—i think edberg had the athleticism to play a federer-like game had he adopted that style of play, but as he's said in many interviews, he knew what he was doing from early on, he simply loved to attack the net, and that was that.
