Yonex VCore 89 Tour, this is really the best there is, even better than the old Pro Staff 85 and it's easier to play with.

I used to have the speed 16/19 (hated it) god it was so just horrible
Now I'm playing with the blade 98 (or just started to) trust me it is a great improvement on the speed seriously try the blade 98 with the strings you like and it will be amazing, just for the record I'm roughly the same age as you

Play what you like best. I believe mid vs. MP is only a part of the equation. Stiffness, swingweight, balance are probably more important. Just like MP's, mids differ a lot among each other. Some have quite a lot of power, like the K90, some are rather anemic like the Redondo mid. Some are good flat hitters like certain prestiges, some are quite spinny like the PB10 mid.

That's why I own a Head Prestige Classic that I use as a practice frame. I really enjoy that sensational and solid feel from a mid. However I prefer a bigger head size during matches. I just don't want give myself an extra handicap while my opponent uses often a more forgiving frame. I tried several times to play matches with a mid but I simply win more with a MP like Chris Edwards also commented during his Head IG Prestige Mid/MP review. So I 'll stick with a leaded up Head IG Prestige MP.

Thanks Baba, great to hear from someone who has owned both rackets. Never owned a 18/20 racket, or a wilson so it should be interesting anyway. Thanks for the input people!

I know I am biased, but give the Dunlops a go as well. You might like the Bio300 like me. Great for control but light enough to manouvre easily.

About 10 years ago I had a Wilson PS 6.0/85. BEST-EVER frame for serving that I've ever used, and also for cranking forehands from the baseline. Just great.

But inside, psychologically, I felt I was somehow, someway, undergunned since the other guys usually had larger frames. THIS PICTURE had no congruence with reality: it was just a quirky image in my head that I had this disadvantage from a slightly smaller head size. The reality was that the smaller head size had nothing to do with my playing---heck, my first frame was wood. I don't see 85 as small at all.

Those mids are great for serving. In fact, this year I'm going to a 93.

Hey, OP, at age 16 I was using a Head Professional, with a 65-square inch head strung at 68 lbs. with gut.

You know, those old aluminum "red Heads."
