Oh please...Ivanovic has shown brief signs of life every year since she fell off the map only to be forgotten again when she can't come up with the goods. This year should be no different.

I think Stephens has an awesome chance at the title. She can beat anyone there. Her vs Zakapalova might be an interesting final.

Ana is completely finished. She will never get back to the top of her game. Her mental strength will never be able to recover. Even if she can somehow manage to get back into the top 10, she won't be able to win close matches or be able to deal with the pressure.

She'd be my pick at this point. Shvedova's gone. No one left will hit her off the court.

Joking aside - I'm just saying it'll be interesting to see how Ana does now she has come out and said she's actually with her coach. Not predicting the Phoenix will rise again, but we'll see. |

to be honest, tonight was the first time i've watched her ... and I was only half watching while doing something else ... but I was listening to the call of the match.
to begin with, she's young: just 17 (compared to Li Na's 30). Madison Keys qualified to play this tournament, and I assume she'll be playing AO also. She plays right-handed, has powerful groundstrokes for her age and dominant serves over 100 mph. Obviously exciting for American women's tennis, I doubt that she's even graduated high school yet. She lives in Florida, trains at the Chris Evert Academy in Boca Raton. today against Li, she made a lot of australian fans with her relatively big serve and the way she was speeding around the court. She started the week at world no. 135, but she earned 120 points by making it to the Sydney QF, so that ranking w/b improving. She beat Lucie Safarova 62 61 in the first round of the main draw, then beat Jie Zheng 61 64 to face Li in the QF I look forward to seeing her compete at AO, but she did appear to be in danger of experiencing a wardrobe malfunction the way she was bouncing around today!

Angelique Kerber was a beast today vs. Sveta, walking all over her with a short digression in the middle of the second set. You could see her determine not to let the match go to a decider and simply came back from 1-4 down to take the second set in addition to the first. Her opponent in the semifinal w/b Cibulkova

Madison is the most promising of the youngsters, IMO. I hope she pans out; the US really needs at least a decent player, even if she doesn't win a slam.

Kerber hit 37 winners... in 2 sets?? And hit more winners than Kuznetsova?? Okay.....
Cibulkova spanked Errani? At this rate the AO will have quite a few upsets.

The sooner Errani is out of the top 10, the better.

After being out for 6 months I think she can do well this year. Maybe the exteded period off has rekindled some desire for her?
