So exactly a week ago I went snowboarding for the first time, and whilst going down the mountain I fell onto my right shoulder pretty dang hard. I didn't think much of it at the time, but it did hurt quite a bit later that night, and since then I've had random pains in the shoulder throughout the week.
I tried tennis for the first time today, and it honestly felt fine at first, until I tried a slice backhand. DANG, it sent a shock of pain. Same thing with anything above shoulder level on the backhand side. A few twinges above shoulder level for forehand side, but not as much/bad. But the slice was the worst thing, I literally could not slice. I don't really know what's up. Anyone ever hit their shoulder and had issues from that? |

I was in an ATV accident in November of last year and fractured my shoulder blade and three ribs.. I couldn't move my right arm for a good 2 weeks but then started becoming more mobile week by week. I actually played tennis for the first time yesterday and my forehand was 100% and the only thing that was lacking (being that I was a solid 4.5 before the accident) was power on my serve and the pain i would feel on my slice backhand. But overall I am at a good 85% recovery and you will recover soon too.

But what is causing that pain? You fractured your shoulder blade and couldn't move it, but for me I just hit it really hard. I have been using it with no problems (except those random twinges) until I did those motions in tennis.
But if it's just recovering from whatever, then I'm content. I was worried it would be something worse |

The shoulder has several structures.
One possibility of many, Labrum Tear - http://www.hopkinsortho.org/labrum_tear.html General illustrations for Labrum Tear https://www.google.com/search?q=labr...w=1312&bih=703 You need to see a Dr for a diagnosis and to determine what you can do without causing farther injury. I fixed it myself by exercise and rest and now it's as strong as ever, but a Dr visit may have quickened the process. |

I"m a 250 day snowboarder and 250 day race motocrosser.
Shoulder separations and shoulder disclocation are prevelent in both sports. The next big injury is broken collarbones. You have a slight shoulder separation or tear. Relax your game for 2 months, you'll be fine. I"ve had over 5 total separations, 2 disclocates, and 4 collarbone breaks. |

If the slice backhand hurts, use your topspin backhand, or 2hbh, or lefty forehand.
Your game is not developed, so any change is better than re hurting your shoulder. And you might teach the old body some new tricks. |
