For this reason its really not anymore expensive than restringing a hybrid every two weeks because the poly goes dead. Can you hit with as much spin? No but this setup fits my serve and volley game just fine. I am a former 5.0 college player who now plays 4.5 due to age. (4
I would agree that full gut is probably the best setup for a S&V game. If you are a baselined and want the spin, a hybrid is probably the way to go.

I haven't tried a full set of the Wilson gut but perhaps I should give it a go.

it will feel nice, however.. you will get less spin, less durability and too much power (depending on your frame and strokes of course)

thats my experience anyway....

The increase in power is what I am concerned about. I guess I could increase the tension to control the power a little more. The spin from some of the poly strings is also a nice advantage as well.

If you trust me, try yonex poly pro tour in your cross. Good on arms, good control and durability. Cheers.

It's not much about increased power, IMHO. It just totally quite characteristic of natural material you'll get used to (and fall in love with).

I needed about 20 hours of playing time to get used to it. And after that, I had to try a few different tensions to fine tune it. In my case, it was 5-10% higher tension than nylons.

Tried Big Ace Revo as a cross with Wilson NG. Soft feeling string with quite a bit of power (maybe too much at the tension I'm at 51/4. No arm issues though. I'm curious to see if the strings dramatically drop tension.

I've heard the revo version will soon be discontinued though.

Have you ever compared Mosquito Bite to Big Ace Micro?

4g has less power and spin but is softer and has a much longer lifespan than big banger.
