Unfortunately, being more intellectual doesn't mean sh** for tennis.

It has already been written that Novak will be no more than just a Joker of the tennis court. Yes, a court jester if you will.

Heck, PR people can't even come up with a good logo for him based on his name like they have for the other record setters. Rafa has a bull = He's from Spain and they have bulls and bull fighters. Roger's initials are part of the word PeRFect. How much more blatantly obvious can that be in terms of his game style? Come on... Pistol Pete had a heck of a serve... and so on and so on. Novak is the Joker.

Anyway, that said, of course Djoko is more intellectual than Fed and Nadal - I thought that was common knowledge? That's obvious from his interviews, the types of movies he sees etc.

Nadal at least does read some books though; Fed isn't a book-reader at all and when he talks about movies it's usually James Bond kinda stuff. "Good Will Hunting" is about as "arty" as he goes to my knowledge anyway.
Emm, It is not common knowledge and I agree with Jeffery that it is really judgmental to consider someone less intelligent because of their tastes in movies or music.

Anyways, for the sake of argument, Djokovic said that his favorite movie was "Slumdog Millionaire" (ATP interview), he thinks Gangnam Style (and the stupid dance) is awesome, shares David Guetta songs on his twitter page, makes penis jokes, and thinks punching people in the balls is funny...Yes, he is the archetypical intellectual.

This is why I've always said that Nole is the guy you want to "party" and have fun with. He's like the prankster of the bunch, which is why the term "Joker" fits him so well.

Less intellectual, not less intelligent.

Novak's penis jokes are neither here nor there; a person can be intellectual and still enjoy/appreciate silliness.

His initials are also in Barf..
Just saying that theory is not perfect.
And I'm a big Fed fan.

Enoying classical music means it is more likely you have a taste for melodies composed meticulously and analytically in a mode of reflection rather than purely as mass crowdpleasers, but it says nothing intrinsic about one's intellect in general.

Wow.

Your ignorance is *really* showing. At least 400 million people in the world speak Spanish. How's yours? How about your Catalan? Your Italian? French?

I'm sorry my post upset you, but it's 2013. It's easier to learn English than ever. Anyone who wants to be seen as world class individual speaks it. That was the consensus reached here.

Yeah, sure. If Djokovic is an intellectual, then so is your typical fratboy.

The younger you are the easier it is to learn a new language. Nadal only started learning English in his late teens. I migrated to Australia from Europe 20 years ago when I was 4, I picked up English within a couple of weeks, my parents however still have a huge accent and struggle with pronouncing and spelling some words.

Nadal's English is good enough, just because he has a big accent and doesn't have an enormous English vocabulary doesn't make him any less of an intellect than Djokovic or Federer. We can only base intelligence from the content of what they are saying, not by how well they speak English.

Nadal isn't a politician or a world leader who needs to speak flawless English, he is a tennis player.

Collins Dictionary:
"intellectual = a person who enjoys mental activity and has highly developed tastes in art, literature, etc"

I got a better topic- Djokovic is Among Top Five Best Tennis Players (and whether he listens to classical or not is totally irrelevant)

One of the oldest myths that was proven untrue. If anything several researches sugges that trance music develops the child's intelligence more than any other.

LOL. Does it even matter? Gangnam, Slumdog, Guetta, djoking around like an ***, wearing wigs in ads... that should settle it for me. But you might be more interested in proving (or at least claiming for a lack of evidence to the contrary i.e. you cannot disprove it, hence it must be true) that Djokovic is the least stupid of a bunch of morons.

Since you brought it up, you prove it.

Here is one of Djoko's favorite books:

Meanwhile Fed barely reads books at all.

Not saying Djoko is "an intellectual" - but more so than Fed; definately.

I've had that vibe about him from the start. He's not an intellectual in absolute terms (he's an athlete duh) but he seems more articulate and a bit more sophisticated intellectually than a lot of other players.
