Thank you; that's all I've been trying to say. I'd thought it was obvious.

I never said Federer's movie choices were more artsy.

Slumdog Millionaire was horrendous and not even close to being "artsy". I guarantee that Djokovic would not consider that movie his favorite anymore. That interview was from March 2009, what happened, most likely, was that Djokovic watched that movie a few weeks earlier and immediately labeled it his favorite movie of all time. Bottom line is that liking blockbusters does not make you a dumb person. Federer's choices pretty much give away that he is not a guy who watches many movies. They are all childhood favorites most likely.

It was horrendous. He probably picked that movie as his favorite because it was trendy at the time to do so.

Djoko also attended the Cannes festival as I remember. You can say it's a place to "be seen" but still IMO it shows he takes an interest in independant film.

Fed likes "action movies" as he said. He doesn't read books either. I'm not saying he's dumb but people who don't read books are rarely considered "intellectual."

Fed is more of a practical, problem-solving kinda guy. He was a video-game junkie when younger and his coach said his favorite game was some sort of James Bond thing where he had to figure out how to "get into" different rooms and how he was very clever at it. This is stuff that requires mental gymnastics, but it's not what would be called "intellectual."

I disagree but that's not the point (Danny Boyle has proven his worth over the years). It's independent filmmaking with more complex themes and ambition than cheesy commercial blockbusters like D.D or pure action films like Rambo. (Not that there is anything wrong with enjoying any of those, you're right)

I seem to remember Djokovic saying his favourite film was 21 grams in one interview, that's a pretty interesting film.

Please do tell us how many languages you speak. I somehow suspect Nadal beats you there.

I didn't think it was horrendous, but not at all as good as it was made out to be IMO.

Djokovic does seem a bit more "intellectual" than Rafa and Fed (and Rafa more than Fed at that )

Oh yes, the intellectual dimension of "my fav player is better" shenanigans. Disgustingly hilarious.

For the record my favorite player is Fed by a mile.

But that doesn't mean I'm gonna call him an intellectual.

Is Djokovic more intellectual than Federer and Nadal?
Here's Djokovic singing an aria from the opera Tosca.

What books you read, movies you watch or music you listen to does not tell anyone about how intelligent you are. What university you went to, or what job you do also tells you nothing.

The only thing that tells people how intelligent you are is how quickly you can do speed math and how quickly you can spot patterns in those shape-shifting tests - basically, your IQ.

Hence, there could be a homeless, unemployed knucklehead who could never be bothered to read past 'The Hungry Caterpillar' and whose only hobbies were to get drunk and start fights - but if he has an IQ of 160 he'd still be much more intelligent than a Harvard-educated brain surgeon who listens to Chopin and reads Shakespeare but has an IQ of 120.

The beauty of IQ is that we can categorize people's whole intellect into a single stat and judge quantitatively with perfect accuracy whether they're brighter or thicker than the next guy.

And if we had some natural disaster and I needed to pick someone clever to stick with, I'd pick the homeless guy with the 160 IQ over the brain surgeon every time.

Yes, but we're saying intellectual, not intelligent.

I was thinking the same thing. There is so much more to intelligence than an IQ score. Very narrow minded to think it's the end all be all of just how smart someone is.

yeah they had to be joking. THere is no definitive way to measure intelligence because there are so many facets to it and even if you could it would then depend on which questions you happened to get... but ultimately it's impossible to say.

It's like how you can't say who is the best tennis player ever or who is the most talent- there is actually no whay to measure it. In tennis we do so by achievements but then you can argue whether the test was bigger or smaller etc..
