Watching the Azarenka / Niculescu match, and I gotta say it's REALLY enjoyable to watch a different style of tennis.
I love watching Monica mix it up. No topspin ball bashing. Kinda feels like anything is possible.

She needs to get together with either Tomic or Dolgopolov for mixed doubles ASAP!

it was fun to see a completely different shot. I don't think very many people will try to copy this forehand though.

Agreed. I love how she hits a typical flat backhand and uses her slice forehand to set it up. It's like a reverse Graf.

Are there any other pros who use a slice as their default forehand? I can't think of any....

i guess she is a competitive tennis player??
if her ginsu forehand is for real in a competitive match...it appeared to me in a match against stosur it never was a weapon but either drew stosur in for MoNic to pass her or it would buy her time to get back into a midcourt position. its interesting and sometimes appeared effective. |
