The only one who is delusional is someone who probably has kids as old as Nadal yet lusts after him like a lost puppy, and goes on a tennis message board for no other reason than to defend their fantasy. Do you ever contribute to other topics? No, because you're a ******* through and through, and are only here to spread your VB pom pom waving. You're just butthurt that I don't fantard hard enough to suit you.

Nadal doesn't even make eye contact with the fans yet you want me to believe he's as sweet as sugar to them? Got some proof otherwise I call bs. In all of your supposed knowledge, have you ever seen him talk to the fans like Cvac does? Joke around with them? Anything that doesn't include staring at the ground? Ever? That was the point I was trying to make. Just watch one of the many exo$ that involves Nadal to see what a dud he is when it comes to fan interaction.

Even as a Djokovic fan, would be pretty funny if Nadal played there and won it. I didn't know it had been removed though.

Yeah Ferrer plays every event he can because he knows he's not winning the big ones. Just saying it'll be funny when according to you Nadal is having to win 8 clay tournaments a year, half of those 250s and 500s that top players don't attend. A guy like Federer or Djokovic (Nadal in the past too) will play Dubai which tends to have a good draw for a 500 (last year Fed, Djokovic and Murray) Basel also has a good turn out recently.. according to you Nadal will be beating up on Almagro etc for 250s and that's something to brag about? last year Djokovic played 2 titles below masters level, both 500s. Murray played 3 Hardcourt titles below masters level..

Wow something positive said about Djokovic To be fair to Nadal maybe he has gotten tired of it all? And we can say oh he doesn't care about tennis etc, but let's be careful with making judgements about people. What if Nadal was suffering depresion or something? I've had problems with depression and known other people who have, and sometimes you stop caring about things or appear to.. it's not something you're consciously doing to be a dick.

So now the excuse is he's just far too shy to make eye contact for a split second with fans. Lol. Doesn't stop him from going out and partying in Mallorca. He's not as shy as some folks want to believe.

There are few and far between consider he looks like a miserable sour puss the majority of the time when dealing with fans.

What was he supposed to do? Get in a knock down drag out brawl right there on court and in front of everyone?
I remember Federer kind of avoiding a guy who ran on court (might have been in a madrid final with Nadal? I could be way wrong) I would have avoided the guy (think about the Seles stabbing) I think he handled it well. I actually agree Nadal has over the past few years become a lot more grumpy, but he isn't like that 100% of the time.

No it won't be, but I also don't think he will be beating up on Almagro, or anyone else for that matter.

Believe me, it took all my might to type those words.

He has always been like that though. I've been a fan since 2005 and I can't ever remember him being personable with the fans.

It was RG 2009. Not sure what round it was though.

He is TONS more grumpy and surly. It's obvious in his body language and general demeanor.

I guess I never paid much attention to the way Nadal has been with fans from the early days.

I think becoming number one seriously puts a stick up your arse haha. Not sure if that's the whole story though. It's possible Nadal has certain issues mentally. He seems to have had a stable family unit growing up but he was also trained hard from a young age as many sporting stars (all top tennis players have have to work hard from very young but Nadal was a pro at 15) that can be tough on certain people more than others. So maybe part of him has never liked the whole slog of the tennis circuit. Didn't Agassi half hate the game? But when you're good at it and it'sall you know, it's a tough situation sometimes. Just saying he may not intend to act a certain way, but of course this is just speculation.

I'm assuming you're trying to remember the RG 2009 Final with Soderling. Crazy fan (Jimmy Jump as he was called) jumped out of the stands in a clown like outfit. He tried to put a hat on Federer's head. He got right up next to Federer which was obviously WAY too close, but he didn't have a weapon. Then he jumped over the net and went after Soderling before being rugby tackled by a security guard. Probably a good thing for him he never got to Soderling. As it was, security was far too lax. If he had some kind of weapon we could be looking at another Seles like stabbing today.

Clarky21 everything you say about Nadal is hatred, so why would anyone believe you? You are just as hateful as the guy that stabbed Seles, which you would obviously do to Nadal if given the chance.

Most of the people I met in Majorca and I met some of the people he has grown up with all say that Nadal is very shy. None of them said he was unfriendly or unapproachable, this includes hotel receptionists, cafe owners and the like. Majorcans' are not the sort of people that are in your face anyway and that is what draws millions to the island every year.On the whole they are polite and respectful. He often stands around to have his photo taken with fans. Once at Wimbledon (and its on film) he grabbed a girls phone off her because she did not know how to take a photo of him and sorted it out for her. Some people are shy and cannot help it

Of course Rafa is not unfriendly or unapproachable. Clarky has absolutely no idea what he is talking about. There are thousands upon thousands of pictures and videos out there that show Rafa being lovely and friendly and polite to his fans but I'm certainly not going to waste my time looking them up and posting them just to prove Clarky is wrong...again. Commentators often go on and on about what a terrific ambassador Rafa is for tennis because he is so good with the fans and always takes time for them.

He's not desperate to be liked like Djokovic is so he doesn't pander for fan's attention the way Novak does. Roger can be quite aloof and usually doesn't practice on site because he'll be mobbed but Rafa puts himself out there all the time. As you say Rafan, he is quite shy by nature but he's also been brought up very well to be respectful to everyone and that includes his fans.

It must be so sad to be Clarky and go through life being so miserable and negative and nasty.

Again with the "he" stuff? For someone as old as you are, you sure are immature. Seems to me like you never grew up.

This shows you he's not confident at all in the knee. He's just trying to get back into competitive tennis while scrounging up some ranking points in the process. He's essentially conceding the ranking points from IW and Miami, because this is not the way you would prepare yourself to defend them after such a long layoff.

Defend what? Nadal didn't win either one of those tournaments last year.

It seems to me that Nadal is starting off slowly on a surface more friendly to his knees to ease himself back in. What is the big deal about that? Do you people want him to cripple himself running around on these slow a** hardcourts for 5 sets after being out for so long? Some of you want to see him injure himself irreversibly so that he will either retire, or be a whipping boy for the top players. Your faux concern is very transparent.

Finally... the satisfaction I shall get when Novak destroys him when they meet again will be fantastic.

Gotta say though, returning on clay? What a coward.

I guess he should. Maybe should have done it years ago, if he wants to walk around healthy in his 40s.

Schedule like

(NO HC EXHIBITIONS!)Doha
AO
Sao Paolo
Acapulco

Monte Carlo
Barcelona
Madrid
Rome
Roland Garros
Queens/Halle
Wimbledon

Cincinnati
US Open

Davis Cup home ties.

I would expect him to pick Canada over Cincy. Cincy is just a nightmare surface for him. He could also play a clay event after Wimby, why not.

I am pretty sure Nadal will do everything he can so that he first faces other top 4 players only on clay and only after he is back into form. There is no way he will try to reach IW or Miami semi to play them now. He will either skip those tournaments or intentionally lose or retire without facing them. It's always mind games with that weirdo. He doesn't want to lose mental edge over anyone important. That's number one reason why he withdrew from AO. He probably could have reached semi with a good draw but then most likely lose badly.

Of course if he played Federer then Roger would find a way to lose no matter what. For example he would forget how to hit a forehand over the net as soon as fireworks start...
