Nalbandian. Most effortless DTL and inside out backhand ever.

Nadal's backhand actually isn't ugly at all. He has good body rotation and makes contact way out in front, with a nice and complete follow through.

His reverse forehand, on the other hand, is a whole different story.

Djokovic, not so much. And the less said about Nadal, the better. If any aspect of Nadal's game appears elegant to you, then I could also convince you that I am George Clooney.
I think Nadals banana forehand is elegant, now convince me that you're George clooney!

Safin's was effortless power. And according to other players on tour when Safin was active, his backhand was the most respected shot back then.

Most 2hb today look like the player is having a seizure but i like the Gulbis BH.

I think Li Na actually has the smoothest because she has great footwork. Ferrer is not too bad either.

I'm shocked no one has mentioned Del Potro's backhand. It's very fluid, can rip it down the line or cross court, and he gets down & stays down nicely for a big guy:

I'd have to go with Agassi. Safin, Kafelnikov and Nalby are great too.

Not sure about most elegant. Never really seen a 2HBH look elegant.

I will say I admired how smooth Mecir's 2HBH looked.

Safin's 2HBH even made the 2HBH look manly.

Murray's is very smooth & controlled but Nishikori's backhand is very nice as well. Nole's I feel can be a little wild sometimes. Ferrer is steady...and ofc Nalbandian is dirtsquad w/ his bh

Miroslav Mecir a backhand even more fluid than Nalbandian, perfect disguise, and the most ridiculous angles.

I don't know where any part of Murray's game is nice to look at.

Murray's newer manlier strokes are nice too look at. I also like his serve, it looks like a pitcher in the windup, very cool. I also like his movement, his gravity turns are very obvious, he kind if sits into the turn and makes his feet keep up with his center of gravity.

Back on Topic,
the word was elegant

we should define this in context of a 2hbh if we are going to have consensus on this issue.

Oxymoron.

But as the ugly 2HB shot goes, of the present group, Djoker and Murray. Janko has some of the ugliest strokes I've ever seen so I would include his backhand.

Oh yes, 480p, how I've missed you.

I present to you HD. I shot this 2 weeks before he won the USO. So presumably he was feeling good and near his all-time peak. I don't think it elegant but I realize taste in BHs will vary:
