She just seems so dominant and impossible to read. She hits the ball insanely clean, and extremely powerfully. I don't know what a player would have to do to beat her when she's having a good day. Spins? Angles? Overpower her? Neutralize the serve?

What to do and how to do it are completely separate. Overpowering her and neutralizing her serve would definitely work. That isn't going to happen. She can take spin all day long and simply crush it back. The reason she's so hard to beat is because like Federer, she forces players to beat her, not themselves. She never gives an inch or plays defensively, or does retrieving. When you're 3rd in the world and absolutely embarrass the top 2, it's probably a sign that you simply are leagues better.

Distract her by laying a trail of twinkie bars on the court.

Taking her out of her comfort zone would require lots of low skidded NML balls, but also lots of retrieving.
If you can get her winded, her serve becomes less accurate. I'd think a strong GUY can do it. I doubt if any current WTA pro can actually BEAT Serena. |

Make every ball back, take advantage of the few short balls you get, and hope she has a bad day / becomes disinterested in tennis again

The players that bother Serena tend to be athletic like Jelena Jankovic at her best she gave Serena a lot of problems because she had the speed and the power. I know Serena and Jankovic have a close head to head I think Serena leads her 5-4 or something like that.
Wozniacki beat Serena last year in Miami but she was off her game because she is very quick and has some power. The other women have to hope Serena is somehow off her game making a lot of errors. If you have noticed the women who tend to beat Serena are fast, a slow player is not going to get the job done. Also, someone like Nadia Petrova or Samantha Stosur give Serena a lot of trouble because they can serve. The problem for the WTA most of the female players cannot serve big like Serena Williams. |

Simple. Treat her to a buffet just before the match.

Make her run. You also run a lot. It will be a close match. remember Zhie Jeng in Wimbledon

Get every ball back, make her move as much as possible, and hope she plays badly. Used to work a pretty decent percentage of the time, but in the past few months SW has been much more focused and has not become an error-generator like she used to.

I'd just try my best to move her around, mix up my shots and hope she gets ****ed and selfdestructs. If she's playing her best there aren't really any other players in the WTA who can deal with all the weapons that she has.

Lay a load of bits of broken wine glass on the court and forcing her to play barefoot.
Otherwise, she's near unbeatable at the moment. |

Yeah, using angles to get her running side to side and drawing her into net is also a good tactic. It's a very tough ask if she's on.

Out-ace her, manhandle her 1st serve, and bully her off the ground.
