This is exactly what I was wondering . Nevermind, I don't mind Tomic making it to next round, as long Fed gives him another tennis lesson ofcourse

This is turning into a serve fest. I'm switching to mini-Sampras and Cilic for a bit

The Tomic that showed up to this match is so far absolutely no threat to Federer, but we've seen Bernie playing better than this.

Here's the translation:

I hate Federer with all my heart and because Dimitrov plays like him I hate him too. I don't care about Tomic or at least wouldn't care about him if he was in a different section of the draw.

Obviously I had to mention Dimitrov as the one who WON'T break it to the top while ignoring the likes of Raonic and Janowicz at the same time which proves how biased I am"

Can anyone enlighten me how this Tomic will ever sneak a set off Federer, let alone beat him in a Bo5 format?

He's half-asleep right now, barely shuffling his feet.

Almost like he's a spectator.

Federer indeed WAS arrogant a few years back but when he was winning 3 majors a year for fun and barely lost a match in a season so his arrogance was perfectly understandable.

I think it more due to what Tomic said in the 2011 Tomic Nadal match.

I like Tomic and I feel Brands is the kind of guy he should beat especially at AO. I feel it would be a disappointing counterperf at this point in his career not to. Unlike you, I am not obsessed with Fed.

I think it's the way Tomic times the hitting of ground stroke.

He is a rare talent in that regard. But have no idea how a 6'5" guy hit that kind of serve.

Tomic's "bunt" volley a few games ago and that weird casual & weak forehand slice off a 2nd serve return are indications of crazy lack of either caring or focus. Is he just experimenting? (in a close match at a Grand Slam!)

Let me get this straight. So you hate Federer for his style and arrogance but you like Tomic despite him being arrogant (without backing it up with results unlike Fed) and playing with variety (like Federer).

Unless you want to make a case for Federer having no variety, then please do so. Let us have a laugh.

Maybe if they can convert the AO into a DC match, wonder can happen.

True, Tomic has game. However, wouldn't you say that Tomic's variety stings a lot more on a fast pace grasscourt rather than the AO courts?

This match is a perfect example of why Tomic is dreaming if he thinks he'll ever be in the top echelon of players. His movement is worse than many club level players and his hustle is barely evident at all.

In the first two sets alone he lost about 20 points because he was too casual with his movement.

So is his 1st serve. And the movement. And the forehand.

He has absolutely nothing on Federer.
