It's pretty rare that a Fed beatdown is boring. Nobody else makes one as entertaining as him.

I feel like Fed has been doing this more in recent years, and it's cost him a few important matches. Won't cost him this one, though.

Clearly, the highlight of the match were the shoes.

Yes, and do you really think this will be enough for the big guys? Fed made too many errors, looked too casusl. He didn't play all that badly, but didn't play well.

His draw is tough and we all know what his chances are against Murray and Djokovic on this slow court. Let us take one game at a time. He was close to going out in third round of Wimbledon and still he won the event. I don't mean to say that he is gonna win AO but let us just savour this victory. Let us hope that he will improve. I guess this is only the second match he played in 2013

Courier pushed it just like he did with Tomic after his match ... but Fed didn't play that game

He wasn't trying his best, he didn't want to exert himself. Expect to see his best from Tsonga onwards (if he gets that far )

Shoes are terrible looking. Remind me of Nadal. Yuck.

Davy > Tsonga, we all know that except for the rankings. Davy wasn't confident and didn't hit as well as he usually does, Fed was a bit lucky to finish as easily. Last few years have proven Davy isn't a cakewalk for Fed like he used to be.

Overall, yes. Right now, no. Tsonga is a bit better. But I think Federer will bring his best and all against Tsonga, at least in the first 2 sets.

Davy pushed Fed to 5 sets @2006 AO.

Tsonga is one player who took out Federer from his pet Wimbledon tournament, Davy is yet to beat him in a slam and you think Davy> Tsonga? Tsonga has taken out both Nadal and Djokovic in AO with his power hitting.

...and Murray in 08
Davydenko has been so overrated by some in the leadup to this match, he has barely been able to keep a winning record since his wrist injury in 2010.

Pretty ho-hum match by Federer's high standards but solid enough to be a comfortable win

If Federer plays even this well in the 3rd round I wouldn't be surprised to see Tomic cry at the whipping he'll get.
