It would be very refreshing to see someone who doesn't just try to crush the ball all the time walk away with the trophy this time. Venus' first serve completely through her rhythm off, not to mention her UF errors.

The Venus of a few years back is not the same Venus of today. I'm still of the opinion Sugarpova cannot get past Serena's serve and groundstrokes. We shall wait and see.

When I first saw this thread, I thought no way will Maria ever take this title. Then I watched her beat Venus last night. It was part Venus not playing well and part Maria not letting her play well. She was scary good. I've never seen this Maria! Now I understand the hype. If she plays like that against Vika or Serena, she very well could take the title. I hope she doesn't, of course. I hope she plays at this level and Serena plays just a little better for an epic quality final. I'm going to start visualizing it now.
