Who does among current top women players? Yet you single her out....

I singled her out because I think she started these negative trends.

Sharapova has two game plans: hit hard, and then hit harder.
I understand that, but come on - she's won every Grand Slam going, Venus hasn't done that.

She was hitting some fine shots in this match. What you think of her, she's a much better player than you're giving her credit for.

Given the state of the WTA there is a good chance Maria will surpass both Venus and Justine Henin in achievements when ones comes to think about it. Other than Serena and possibly Azarenka who is more likely to win the big tournaments over the next 4 years, other than some of the useless up and coming corp emerging.

She has always pawned Venus on non grass surfaces (although she never played peak Venus of 1999-2003). She will continue being Serenas slave for life though, that is something that will never change.

It might be time for Venus to consider hanging up her hat and calling it a day on her singles career - she looked so weary out there and way past her prime. No movement, no serve, only flashes of power.

I just can't see her wanting to continue to be embarrassed in singles like that, especially against someone who she used to be competitive with. She should just stick to playing doubles with Serena for the rest of the end of her career because her illness is clearly preventing her from being a factor in singles anymore.

I think it is a combination of illness and age. Players dont generally hit their peak at 33.
